340 Cruisar ac/heat problem

Is there periodic maintenance on a 12K AC/heat Cruisar system. When the heat comes on, the fresh water pump in the engine compartment make a loud noise.

I have a 260DA but as far as I know the maintenance on your boat should not be any different. On mine the maintenance on the Cruiseaire unit itself involves cleaning the air filter located behind the air return panel. On the fresh water pump you need to keep your sea strainer clean to allow for the proper flow of water to the cruiseair unit. Other than that there is no other periodic maintenance that I am aware of.

You mention your water pump being noisy. Is that some thing new? My pump is somewhat noisy too but not so much as to become annoying in the cabin as long as the engine hatch is closed.

The fresh water pump has nothing to do with your boat's air conditioning system.
Are your referring to the RAW water pump that provides outside water to the air conditioner?

Unless I am totally misunderstanding the original point George was making, it concerned the water pump for his AC system.

Whether you call it a raw water, fresh water, sea water, lake water, river water, water or whatever (pump), it is just a matter of word choices.:grin:

Dave, u r exactly right and the "fresh water" pump was bad, had to replace

I feel your pain brother. I had to replace mine this summer. My boat is an 07 so we got three years out of the pump. How old was yours? Does anyone know if there are better pumps out there that are more durable?
