I was reading a review of a 2002 320DA in a boating magazine. In the article, they state, "behind the starboard settee, there's a 12"Dx18"Hx42"W hidden stowage cabinet that is accessed by pulling the back of the settee towards the centerline." What? I have a 2005 320DA and had no idea that this storage compartment exists. Since my boat is inaccessable at this time, I can't check it out. Does anyone know if this stowage area is available on later models of the 320DA?

Go to the Service section of the Searay website and download the parts manual. It shows exploded views of some areas, you may be able to tell.

There is a storage area there. Under the cabinet in the aft cabin area, on the starboard side, pull down on the top of the cushion that is used as the seat back...and there is the storage area.

That's gotta be neat to find extra storage....kind of like putting on your winter coat for the first time of the season and finding a $20 bill in the pocket...

later,

Found the same thling on my 37 express. The seat seemed a little loose one day and I pulled up on it. Base lifted up to a great locker. The seat cushion was held down with really good velcro.

I couldn't resist, I had to look. This is from a 2005 320DA parts manual. Look at part 11. BTW my 300 has storage in the same place.

Your salesman did not to give you the secret pass word and knowledge of the ultra secret stowage compartment. :smt043

You betcha!

That storage compartment is huge, we keep bedding and the rolled up memory foam for the mid-cabin berth in there, and there is plenty of room to spare.

Watch out......now that you know about the extra space, the salesman may bill you for it........just tell him you won't use....but keep your fingers crossed.....

later,

some one should be paid a "finders fee."

I don't know if Waterfriends already read this or that he is coming back.

I am very curious if this "hidden" space is available on more models.

This layout gives opportunities on various models.

Let’s take a look!

Hehe.... When I was originally looking at my boat, I was down below poking around. We decided to see if we could stretch out on the mid-cabin berth with the side cushions moved. So I pulled on them and found that cabinet.

The owner came down, saw it, and was like "WTF? I didn't know that was there...." In there the dealer had stashed the marinco TV and phone cables. He had called the dealer after he first bought it and bitched cause there were no TV and Phone cables, so the dealer gave him some new ones. So now I have two sets as a finders fee :)

He also didn't know about the one under the opposite side cushion. We use it to hold the vacuum and stuff we don't need that often as its not as easy to open. Apparently he was easily discouraged, where as I am determined to pull until I'm 100% sure :)

This boat has TONS of storage. I still have not filled it all up.

What do folks put in the center floor locker? Its huge too, but I can't think of anything we need to store there.

EDIT: Maybe it was designed by the same folks who built the Millenium Falcon? I should use it for smuggling.

I used to think my 380DA had tons of storage....that is...Until I showed the admiral.....now it all full....I am, however, allowed some space for tools and spare parts...

Too funny....I went 3 years before I accidentally found that storage area on my 300.....embarrassing.

I quote myself.... :smt101 :smt101

Can you remove the side cushions without damage them?

Peter

We used to keep the oars to our dingy, registration number boards for the dingy, our optional extra canvas, extra shore power cable and can goods and related food items in our floor locker. Our 37 was way short on storage down below and the space under the bed was wasted on a/c and the sofa had no storage. That was our biggest boat and it had the least amount of storage. :smt101

Thank you, I can't believe I never knew of this storage area. I wonder how many salesmen or delivery captains know, since no one said a word. I don't recall reading of this area in the manuals either.

We kept our rolled up canvas in there during the summer. Worked out pretty good.
