Has anyone installed an aftermarket pad on the bow? Marine max and marina said it had to be installed at the factory. I realize the stainless rails require headliner removal but seems like someone would do it. Thought about snaps but probably likely to cause problems. Any thoughts/vendors would be appreciated?

Yep, we have a large pad on the bow of our 320 although we didn't install it, it was there when we bought the boat. Sure is a really nice feature. As long as you keep an eye on the snaps they won't cause a problem. I will get some pics for you.

I know someone here will say.....on snaps...don't do it they cause leaks and are hard to keep up. Well, if you do your maintenance and check stuff, boating can be fun but if you let things slip and get out of control, problems will occur.

Gioia Sails is currently working on the design of a new adjustable Sunpad for the 320. We should have a working prototype in the next week or two...

Stay tuned...

There is a member Bon Dia, who has a 340DA. He had a pad made that covers his entire front deck. The sunpad is huge. You might search his posts...I think he has posted pictures on here before.

I have seen a 320 on boattrader - that looks like they bought the factory sunpad and made the snaps so they just snapped into the foredeck instead on wrapping around the stainless rails. The extra part that wraps around the rails - they just removed.

I saw a 2007 320DA at Lake of the Ozarks that MM installed a factory sun pad and rails on.

Instead of removing the headliner, they placed the rails where them would normally be placed at the factory. On the inside they drilled some "core holes" in the headliner so they could run the bolts up into the rails from underneath. They shaved down the cores they removed and put back in the holes and then covered it up with a "button" that matched the headliner material.

It looked really professional and if you didn't know better you might think it came from the factroy that way.

I had a 260DA first and I think SR used the same type of "button" to cover up mounting holes in the headliner of that.

Wow, Bon Dia's pad is great.. That's what I'm talking about!! Where, how much, and how is it attached??

BON DIA's pad is indeed great...does more than sleep well. Custom made my SR recommended upolstery shop here in AUS but any competent shop should be able to construct. We paid ~ $800 back in '05. Pad is 4" of semi hard foam encased in same material the seats are upolstered with...nice & supple. Pad tapers to the center thus lays flat, does not curve with the deck. Is fastened fore & aft with button thingies that turn 90 degrees to lock. Sides are snaps. All holes were filled with 3M 4200. When on plane the pad does billow a bit. Sorry about the spelling..at the boat with laptop & no easy spell check.
