2005 Sundancer 320 with twin 5.7L’s and the v drives...
My starboard engine stalls “sometimes”when shifting gears at no idle. This typically happens when I’m docking. Never stalls when sitting in neutral and it never stalls when I’m out on the lake driving around. It only stalls when I’m at low idle and shifting gears.

I’ve read that it could be a shifter cable, but wasn’t sure about that due to the V drives.
I’ve also read that it could be the shift interrupter switch as well.

And....... At lake on Saturday and when docking, I ran the idle on starboard a little higher and it did not stall out... Was this just luck or was there something to a small small increase to throttle?

Little background:
Engines have 280 hours, new plugs, new oil, new fuel filter, etc...
I purchase boat end of last year and it’s been doing this entire time. But recently, seems to be getting worse. This is now happening about 70% of the time.

1. Do I need to adjust the shifter cable on the starboard engine? If so – how to do it?
2. Do I need to replace the cable and if so, does boat need to come out of water?
3. Understand last thing to do is buy shift interupter switch and swap this out?

Thanks for your help!

Rob,
i'm not much help, but thought you might want to know that you are not alone. I have the same boat, but with stern drives, and it does the same thing. Fortunately mine only seems to do it when the engine is not fully warmed up. By the time I clear the marina it usually is OK. I assume that your power steering is run off of the Starboard engine like mine.
That has got to be exciting if you lose steering while docking. It is bad enough when I lose it trying to get out of the marina. I'll keep watch to see what the guys come up with.

Thank you for your responses. Problem is resolved. There is a turn down screw at the throttle cable next to the spring. Turned it down a quarter of a turn and problem is resolved. This increased the rpm idle from 530 the range to around 600 average. The starboard engine now matches the Portside engine.
