i follwed the manual in draining the water from my 6.2 engines with inboards. I closed both seacocks, used the pump, pressurized the system, and as indicated, water came out on the bottom of the engines. I loosened the blue drain plug where indicated to vent the system and no more water came out. Then i pulled the blue drain plug at the bottom of the engine and no more water caem out there either.

My question: How much water should have come out? It didnt seem like a ton but then again this is a closed cooling system. Im guessing maybe a gallon or 2? I just want to make sure i did it right since the boat is still in the water and we've had some really cold temps lately. Thanks for any help/ideas.

You actually did more than you needed. (THAS A GOOD THING) If you are using the air actuated drain valve system, it should open the valves properly. You can confirm by the protrution of the green dot indicators near the pressure fill for the pump. But if you pulled the three blue plugs on the engine, in addiiton to using the pressure system...you have done all you can. You can do one more thing and that is to crank over the engine without starting it. Just mometarily, it will let out any water that may be in the impeller housing of the raw water supply pump.
Normally you cna use just the air system and not pull the blue plugs. While the air system is still activated (indicated by the protrucing green dots) crank the engine like I menitoned before. The point is that you save pulling the plugs and if you quickly decide y ou want to go baoting..you can do so once you close back the system. When you return, purge the system and you are winterized again. NEAT, HUH?

Do not forget to drain your black fiberglass mufflers in the exhaust system for each engine and the gen (if you have one)...small hex head on each one.
