Alright guys, Too embarrased to bother FrankW more so i need your help. My port engine turns over but will not start. When i push switch on star side you hear a click then engine turns over and starts. Port switch doesnot click, the engine turns over just fine but will not fire. I just got back from Bahamas and have been sanding painting and just plain tearing things up. I probably pulled a wire out some where. It reminds me of when i tried to start engine with volt gauge out. Engine turned over but would not fire up until i reconnected the volt gauge. What does the switch click engage? Fuel pump or what? HELP, HELP, Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Guys for your help. JC

JC,

My feelings are hurt! You still have my phone no don't you?

There are only 3 things in the system that can cause this.......as the previous poster said, the fuel run solenoid, or the wiring to it, the relay controlling it, and then #3 is the breaker on the engine, if you have one.

I had the same issue and mine was power getting to the fuel solenoid.... The boat was re powered in '02 by CAT under a warranty issue that has been well discussed on this and many other forums, but I digress... There now is very nice wiring harness snap connector and I'm not sure if it was stock or if it was installed with the repower.... anyway I cleaned the connections and coated then with the electric-gel... It worked like a charm. For a very temporary quick fix and or check on what the issue really is... I took a 12 volt jumper (fused of course) off of one of my batteries and connected it to the positive side of the fuel solenoid "click" is necessary for the engine to fire.

Anyway I hope this helps, it's getting late and Margarita's are now involved.....

Yep...
When my mechanics got to the boat, he went straight to the solenoid, and showed me the busted-off crimp connector for one of the wires. Must have broken from vibration.

Could've saved myself a few hundred $$ had I looked for obvious loose wires before calling them.

Thanks Guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frank, I just hate pestering you all the time. You are so gracious with your time and help. Had electrician at boat till he got called out. No power to Fuel Solenoid. Going to take connections one at a time back wards. I donot know what relay in junction box looks like? Mystic i think i have the same problem. Will let you all know how it works out. Going to pull and clean connections. THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP. JC

Well i went back to boat and worked backwards from FS to junction box. Plugged and un plugged everything i could. Saw wires that loked like the color at volt gauge and started tighting them in junction box. Went to start PRESTO it clicked then started. Not sure exactly the cause or fix but suspect Junction box wires. Frank i put End plate back on heat exchanger with new o rings etc... No leaks. My mechanic will be off vaction and going to take those babies out for alittle frying. Thanks Guys for all your HELP! JC
