I have a 2000 310 Sundancer. I keep finding the aft cabin carpet is wet. Where is this water coming from? Any ideas?
Thanks

Art, check your shower sump and make sure your bilge pump is working in there! AC and shower drain into it!

Also, check your port hole in the head. We used to get get rain through the window, down the counter and into the cabinet. The carpet in there would act like a wick and pull it near the drawer under the companion way stairs.

Leaking windshield mounting screws can also cause water to leak down the inside of the hull and "bleed" into the carpet on the floor. Remove the black rubber strip on the outside of the windshield and remove, clean and re-bed the screws. Believe me, I know this to be true.

Two things come to mind. First have a friend with a SR 33 DA. His problem was the A/C bottom plate would fill up with water, it would over flow towards the carpet. The sump pump and lines were covered with lime reducing the water flow to the sump tank area. Use a vaccum to clear out the lime and flow was restored. In my case it was the window seals on the port side. Since a really don't use the side windows I cleaned the rubber seals with a cleaner and place clear silicone and just sealed them up.

I had a similar issue. The stbd side window was not closed tightly and rain water would come in, run down the cabinet and onto the aft floor. Also, head sink lines were leaking at one time, dripping under sink, running under head floor and into aft cabin floor. Ended up ripping carpet up. It's impossible to get totally dry under carpet.

FWIW, the water in the same place for me came from the galley fridge - only has to left very slightly ajar and defrosts - all in all though, because the floor drains aft into that pit - it can come from pretty much any of the above ideas I would suspect.

I have the same issue with my 2005 300 sundancer. I found how the water is getting on the floor in the aft cabin, there was 8 gallons of water under the port side of the cabin bed and was leaking onto the floor. i havn't found how it is getting to that point though. none of my water lines are leaking either.

I used silicone sealant on my radar arch, Capt chair base, windshield frame(inside & out), deck fills, portholes and railing stanchions. I can't say which actually stopped the water from wetting the aft berth carpeting, but for now it's remaining dry. woohoo!!!

I seemed to have solved the wet carpet in the aft stateroom and although I've siliconed around the Port side Head Port hole and have tightened the dogs I am still getting wet carpeting under the sink in the head. Who's bright idea was putting carpeting under a sink inside a head that is also the "shower" anyway.... I do not see any water coming through the port hole when I hit it with the hose, I dont see any dripping of water from the sink fittings .... I dry the carpet ...no one is using the sink or shower and when I show up the next weekend ... the carpet is wet again.where can this be coming from?

Water can run behind the foam backed vinyl from the window. Go under the sink and see if you can reach in there and feel the back of the vinyl to see if it's wet.

Not familiar with your boat, but when we had some leaks on my Dad's 270 it ended up being from around the rub rail and one of the cleats. There's a great product called "CAPT Tolley's creaping crack cure". It works great because its very thin/liquidy and wicks down into wherever there may be a leak. It's worked miracles on a few different locations on my Dad's boat. Think he got it at West Marine.

Was this the forward bunk or the aft cabin? I have the same boat and the fresh water tank is under the aft cabin center part of the seat/bed/bulkhead area. Could that be leaking? There's a panel with screws under the cushion that you can take up and look inside to access the tank.... If under the forward berth... could be coming from the anchor locker or Air Conditioner drip tray? I've read where those trays can rust through and then the water spills all over.

As I replied earlier. Check on rebedding the screws at the base of the side windshield. I had this same issue with the wet carpet under the sink in the head. Rebedding the screws with new silicone did the trick. Not a bad idea to do all around to the starboard side also.
