310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Anyone have the shield on a v drive set up?

Hey everyone we just took delivery of a 2007 310 and learning all the systems I am trying to locate the stereo poweramp and somewhere on the forum I read that it's under the mid berth couch

does anyone have any idea how to access it? I can pull the couch out so you can sleep on it and I can't seem to lift anything up to look underneath

Also the speakers in the cockpit have speaker covers over them which looks like a factory upgrade one of my speakers isn't working and I'm wondering how easy it is to remove the speaker Canvas in order to troubleshoot the one speaker that is not playing.

Thanks!

In the mid berth on the starboard side below the cabinet doors there is a cushion that folds down. The amps should be in there. If I understand what you are referring to as speaker canvas it's the panels with white mesh fabric above the grill and on the starboard side behind the captains chair. If so, those panels are secured with Velcro. They don't come off easily but they do come off.

Thanks Jim you are correct I do have the panels with the mesh fabric. I gave those light tog wasn't sure what I was pulling apart so I didn't pull too hard. I'll give that another try today and also look on the mid berth cushion and see if I can find the amps today I'll let you know and thanks again

AFAIK there is no access under the main starboard side sofa...the amps are in the starboard side rear settee seat back as noted. Face your main electrical panel, look right--it's behind that seat back. Remove the lower filler cushion and the entire back hinges down.

I've found a plastic putty knife makes separating the velcro on the speaker covers easy (and prevents you from pulling the Velcro off completely).

Hope this helps-

So, you were correct. I opened that rear settee and here's what I found:

Not too shabby!

Interestingly, the speaker covers imply there are 2 sets of speakers on each SIDE of the boat. But I can only hear a speaker on the starboard side in the helm area, not in the rear lounge area. On the port side, it's the opposite. I can hear a speaker near the wet bar sink, but not opposite the helm on the port side.

Looks like pulling those covers off is the only way to see what's going there. Subwoofer works fine.

It appears you have the optional premium audio package or perhaps a nicely installed aftermarket setup...either way, well done!

Pull the sunbrella fabric cover on the arch and the speaker is easily removed w/ 4 screws. Hopefully you'll find that the wires have simply detached from the speaker back.

Yes, that is the factory upgraded audio system. I'm only getting half of it, however :)

I was looking at the sunbrella fabric cover and wasn't sure where you indicate I should pull it? Take it off? Just trying to find the screws. There is an entire piece that covers all the speakers. Apparently there is a 6 1/2" on each side in the rear lounge area and a 6 1/2" with a tweeter in the helm area and directly across from it on the port side. Hoping it is a connection issue as well!

You should find that the sunbrella fabric permanently wraps/is attached to an underlying rigid plastic frame which all comes off as a complete unit. It's held to the arch via velcro that is attached to the arch directly (with adhesive) and is mated to velcro attached to the rigid frame.

There are no screws holding these expensive "speaker covers". Once the covers have been removed, you can access the screws attaching the speaker itself to the arch.

Only getting half is too convenient. Before pulling too much, try testing the amp. One side of your amp might be toast. The velcro that is used is "Dual Lock 3m" Although it's fairly expensive, you might want to get a roll off of amazon and replace since it might be getting a bit old and cruddy by now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mike

My custom made camper. Now we can finally use the aft sofa.

the 4 speakers in the cockpit are 1 in the large darker area in your picture and the other one is forward of that, lower, and closer to the cup holders.
if you go to the helm station and listen below the window between the shifters and the cup holder at the right bolster of helm is the other speaker.
hope this helps

I wanted to keep the original looks and did not want to add an aft bow. Instead i extended the bimini bow and made an all new canvas behind the arch.

I just bought a new cockpit cover for my 08 310 and I never had one before. My question is how does it attach around the arch? looks like I'm missing something

You should have snaps on the arch itself above the canvas speaker covers that attach the cockpit cover to the arch...from memory I think I have four arch snaps on each side.

OK, where are all the 310 owners? This thread is going stale. I have a panel for a '07 310 Sundance for purchase if anyone is interested. It had the System View and Raymarine C80.

Thanks and please PM me if wanted.

Mike

I'm considering a 310 as my next boat and among the significant debates I have is v-drive versus outdrives. I could go either way based on pro's and con's. But I am wondering what kind of speeds one gets with the v-drives with the 6.2's? I have info comparing the the 350 mags in v-drive and bravo set up but not with the 6.2's. Top speed is far from a major consideration but I was surprised to see that the 350 vdrive boat will only get pushed to about 36mph while the stern drive will around 44 which was about what my 290 did. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the vdrive 6.2 setup, I have never seen over 33mph top speed. That's running light with the current. My only complaint with vdrives is that to replace the impellers you must remove the entire exhaust system to get down there. Docking is a breeze you can spin the boat on almost center. I have a bow thruster but it doesn't need it unless you have a strong cross wind.

Not that I do it often but I can hit 45mph with the stern drives. And I can fit four large men in my ER. With axius docking is a breeze.
