I just received a gallon of 303 protectant ordered for my vinyl seats (People on these boards swear by it).

it came with a brochure outlining additional uses. They say you can a use it straight on your gelcoat hull instead of wax or polish and it will protect from UV rays better and last longer.

Has anyone tried this?

It's the best product I've ever used on vinyl, but there are better products for the other applications.

It looks great on eisin, until it gets wet. Water runs off in streaks instead of beading.

On gelcoat, it makes it greasy and shiney and exposes microscratches not visible before, and only lasts until the first rain or wash.

I asked the same question on another site last year. A boater who had tried it was very ticked off at 303 for advertising what he found out the hard way was pure BS. He stated it looked great for a very short period of time. After that it evaporates and looks as if nothing at all was done to the hull. I see a lot of ski boat folks using it constantly. It does look sharp when it is fresh.

Agreed. It is the best thing for the vinyl seats, but that is about it. Please don't put it on your gel coat or eisin. I use it on my Jeep vinyl top and after the rain, the paint and windows have horrible streaks. You have to clean it off the paint and windows with soap and water, but the top looks great!

303's great for dirt bike/quad fenders, makes them look like new! Sorry not boat related
