Does anyone know how to check and correct the engine to shaft alignment on a 1986 Sea Ray 300 Weekender?

Thanks,

Joe

Outdrives?

If so, I think you have to remove the outdrive and insert a tool into the coupler.

I'm sure there will be others here with first hand information that clarify.

My 300 has twin 260HP Mercruisers inboards and straight drives.

Thanks,

Joe

Oh... well never mind then. Don't know about inboard alignment.

He probably has straight inboards in an '86 300WE.

There have been a couple of good write ups here on shaft alignment so you might try searching the site for them.

I call tom my mechanic ,tried to read up on it but too many irons in the fires at the time .Mercruiser manual has directions in it .By the way check with a few different marinas on the price ,i got three totally different prices to have it done from 400.00 down to 125 for both, just depends i think the first guy didnt think i could read or something but their rates were posted on the wall behind him when he told me it would be 400 and take one hour .rates were 65 per hour, uhmmm thats 130 tops dude.

Speakrdude,

Could you send me the link to the doccument you posted?

I cannot read it (text is small and I'm half blind).

Thanks,

Joe

You'll have to send me an email address as it is not a link. It's a pdf on my computer.
