300 Sundancer questions.

Also, just to make sure I am not missing anything, there is only single drive trim on port throttle but two drive trims to bring them up to trailer. So if I trailer trim drives to different points and use trottle trim to bring them down, will higher of two drives continue down after the first one?

Short answer, yes. The trim pump will continue to dump flow over the internal relief valve once the drive is completely down. You likely will hear a squeal or a change in the sound of the pump when the drive is down.

Can anyone tell me if they have a problem with water in the engine compartment. Every one of the bellows have been changed and we still have water. Does anyone else have this problem

My filler cushion for the cockpit sun pad and the lounger for the bow live in the aft cabin on the port side seat behind the stairs coming down into the cabin....
I keep mine there as well. I've also found that when the aft compartment is converted to a berth, both cushions fit perfectly under it. So much so, I'd like to think it was designed that way ;)

Yes, only when it rains. I think it's coming in from the blower vents. Not enough to turn on the bilge pumps, but enough to be annoying.

New question. Any of you run a cable from the cabin breaker closet to the helm on the '02-'07 300DA? Previous owner left me a iPOD adapter and I installed it in the breaker closet (just above the water level meter/switch. I now either need to add a 12V power recepticle there as well to power the iPOD (so I can us it for more than 4 hours) or remount the iPOD adapter at the helm where a 12V recepticle exists (the cable is 9 feet long - I think it will reach). I am leaning toward helm mounting since I find I am in the cockpit most all the time I am running the stereo. Can the cable just be fished, or do I need to remove starboard mounted panels and cabinets and such?

Not as clean a solution, but also multi-functional. I run a FM transmitter powered by the helm 12v adapter. That way you have the ipod there and full control. Use the helm remote to control the volume. Also use the same FM transmitter to pipe the audio from the tv through the cabin speakers or through the cockpit speakers when watching a movie on the laptop up in the cockpit.

I use this one. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2638387

I like that. How's the clarity of the sound? I have considered this approach but was worried the sound would be noisy.

I dont have any problems at all with the sound. The only time I've had complaints was my own fault. I inadvertantly had the volume on the ipod set too low and the stereo volume cranked up. That causes a bit of staic, but if you turn up the volume on the ipod/computer to about 2/3 or 3/4 and then amplify that with the stereo its great. Normally I dont spend the extra $$ for monster products, but thought it may be worthwhile in this scenario. I know griffin products get good ratings on best buy's site too, but the local store didnt have the one with the earphone jack, just the ipod jack. I wanted to be able to transmit from the TV/Laptop too, so I went with the Monster which was in stock at RadioShack.

The other thing was that I have a 400 watt inverter that I run with a cigarette lighter splitter via the 12v outlet in the galley. I power the fm transmitter, and the small TV, and my digital signal converter box off of it sometimes when I dont need the generator for heat/ac too. Occasionally you get some static/interference from the inverter and transmitter being right next to each other. Perhaps a better inverter (mine was like $40) or something would fix that. Ideally at some point I'd like to have a fixed mount inverter on board, but havent gotten into that project just yet.

I think I have a couple of plug into the car inverters lying around. Good idea to make use of them. So I've wondered why all the power outlets in our cabins are only on the port side. Yet the source for those are at the breaker panel on the starboard side, where it would have been real easy to stick a 12V and 110V outlet. Anyone know why no starboard outlets of any kind in the cabin?

So I showed this to my wife and she says "oh, I have one of those in my glove compartment that I don't use anymore". It turned out to be the exact same Monster model only with the iPOD specific plug instead of the generic 3.5mm stereo plug. That actually works well for me as the device will both power the iPOD and pull the sound off of it all in one, from the single 12V outlet at the helm. Thanks for the idea, James.

Give it a try... its certiainly much less work to get you going! If you figure out how to put a 12v outlet in the electrical panel cabinet in the cabin, I'd love to have one over there. I'll help you do yours if you help me!

I started working this. I took the DC panel cover off and getting power to the 12v socket will be real easy. Can add a lead to either the input side of the breaker switch bus to get unswitched power, or to any of the output sides of any switch to get switched power ("Accessory" would be a good intuitive one). Those contacts are right there on the edge of the cover when you remove the cover.

Getting the ground feed for the socket is harder. I didn't find a ground bus anywhere close, but I did find ground going to the 200W amp right there behind the panel cover. Its the second from the left big lead on the amp in the picture below (where the glare is). I think I'll just loosen that screw and add the ground wire there.

The final challenge is where to mount it. The head unit, the 6 CD changer and the water pump switch/meter are all mounted above the DC panel on some nice wood that is easy to drill a hole through. There is a space above the water switch that will fit it, but I put the iPOD adapter there already. I can move the iPOD adapter and put the 12V socket there, or I may try to widen the metal cutout for the macerator (which I don't have) on the DC panel, as shown below, and mount it there rotated 90 degrees.

Also, it looks like I can move the ipod adapter to the helm fairly easily as well. I took the gauge cluster panel off and I think I can just drop it down the starboard side and it will fall straight down into the space behind the cabin switch panels. That's the path the helm stereo remote wires take.

Sorry about the grainy pics. Took them with my phone not my camera

I need to remove the cockpit aft seatback cushion. Anyone taken theirs off before? Looks like there are two small bolts into the trunk from it. Are there any other mounting bolts or clips?

Take them two out remove it the same as you would your side panels. Check closely to make sure there are know more bolts

Has anyone ever changed their gages. If so can you tell me how much it cost and how difficult it was.

I've just signed a contract for a '93 300DA (first boat, boaty excited), but the one thing I've not really been able to check is the fuel capacity. The advert lists it as 452l (120gal) per engine, but I've got a sneaking suspicion it is 452 total. Anyone got any thoughts or knowledge of this model? I've got a survey happening next week so I'm going to ask them to check off on it.

The sea ray archives lists 452 as the capacity for the boat, says nothing about two tanks - hence my suspicion

Next question, with 452l (120gal) is my assumption I'll have somewhere around 200nm range about right? (guestimating 2l/nm combined across the two engines) First boat and I'm just after some confidence I'll have sufficient range for the kinds of trips I've got planned.
