300 Sundancer questions.

No problem, I was bored
I'm curious Melida. What does 1,85 and 1,65 = in inches? Regards, Brian

Haha, if I knew it I'd want you to measure the volume of all storage areas in the entire boat :smt043

1,85meter is 6'1" and 1,65 is 5'6" app.

Bridog.......

The cockpit table is 29 3/4" long, 20 15/16" wide and 1 5/8" thick at the widest points. These measurements were all rounded UP to the nearest 1/16" as 1/32" was killing my eyes! The table storage opening under the aft seat is 30 3/16" wide and 1 3/4" tall. If you were to store a fancy hardwood table there, you would probably want to line the channels with felt or another soft material. Good luck and remember the PICS!

Bri...your early! hahaha Thanks so much! I still have to see if i can afford it. If it's a go, I will definately post pics. Thanks again for the measurements. Sincerely, Brian

Can you tell me what size bedding you use on this bed.
Thank you

Hey guys - Just bought a 300 Dancer over the weekend. Been looking for 6 months, searching for the exact combination of year, options, condition etc. 2005, white hull, 5.0L w/ BIII, gennie and full camper canvas. Super excited and can't wait to splash in few months.

I have read this forum twice now top to bottom and felt like I know the boat pretty well already. Thanks to all who contribute here and hope to provide some info as I get through the learning curve. Coming from 240 Sundeck so have tons to learn, already pouring over all the manuals, engine, gennie, water, electric, and making lists for maintenance as soon as warms up.

Here is the 64K dollar question and I don't remember seeing this disussed before. During purchased process, surveyor found evidence of water that had found its way into the "secret compartment" and a little under the aft cabin mattress. (Yes, I found the compartment already, do I get points for being ahead of the curve? :smt038). Any anyome had this issue or have thoughts on where water could be coming from?

Boat will be delivered in few weeks and need to track this down. Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on the 6 ft addition! Not certain how water got into the two areas you mentioned. Was the secret compartment just damp or was there water accumulating in it?

Thanks Stray Cat - Compartment was dry at time of survey but carpet showed signs of having water on it. My guess is enough to be pretty wet and enough to leak down into aft berth. Surveyor speculated that calking around helm and/or cockpit area was leaking down and was hoping someone else had this issue before I began chasing it around the boat. Have enough to do already!!!

Congrats on the new boat jkim, and welcome to the 300 club! You're right, I don't recall seeing anything about the water issue you describe, on our model anyway. Was the boat ever stored outdoors without the canvas on? I'm trying to think how you can get that much water to cause your issue. I rinse my cockpit out but have never had any leakage problems. It may be hard to find....I would check windshield trim, cockpit seams, rail mounts and the gunwhale trim. You can access the starboard side panel in the cockpit directly above the secret compartment, but not my favorite job unless necessary, or fun like adding more electronics!

And don't be intimidated...my 300 is my first boat, ever, and I have it pretty much figureed it out, knock knock.

Thanks Watts, i figued this issue could be just a matter of spending some time looking for seams, spraying water, etc. Looking forward to Spring and spending some time one her.:smt038

I have the same issue and from what i seen i think the satellite on the radar arch might be leaking...at least that what i hope to find in spring.

So theory is water is leaking in on top of radar arch, running down arch and into cabin? What makes you think that?

This may hold together as previous owner had new radar installed last year, perhaps they did not seal it up well enough.

OK, I am stumped. What's the hole, with the screw cap, next to the table mount on the engine hatch for? I read every line of the owner's manual and couldn't find it mentioned. It was drawn into all the sketches, thought. Is it to shove a fire extinguisher nozzle in when you see smoke?

Yes, and I think in theory it's so you can also reach in and detatch the lifting ram if it ever breaks.

Yep...and that's a helluva fun time I tell you. Back to the leak....I did have a small leak on my arch when I got the boat. Bad caulking job around the TV antenna and coaxial. The only water I ever saw was a little collected in the arch access cover but if bad enough could cause your leaking issue. Certainly worth looking at.

We close on the boat tomorrow and she is being delivered on the 23rd. I will have about a month to figure out some of these things before splash date in late April. Thanks to all for the guidance and I will advise as to what I find re: water in secret compartment.

Hi all,

I've stored my boat offsite and I don't have easy access to power. I understand I can open the engine hatch on my 2004 300 Sundancer by connecting a 12V battery through the accessory plug on the helm (To be honest, I thought this was a 12V power source until I started investigating this). Does anyone have a picture of this accessory? Unfortunately I didn't get one with my boat and I'm wondering if it makes more sense to make one or get it from the dealer.

If you don't get an answer by Thursday, I'll be able to post a pic of mine then. Its on the boat at home and I happen to be in lovely Owego, NY right now.

Here you go. By the way it is just a regular accessory plug at the helm. This cable allows you to apply 12V to the circuit through that plug when your batteries are dead/disconnected.

By the way. Took the boat out on the water today for the first time since winterizing. Started right up and ran great. Best news is I have 170 gallons of fuel ready to be used and paid for at Nov/2011 prices.

Thanks ZZ13. I think this is something I can handle. Any idea the gauge of the wire?

Congrats on your spash date. Were a little more than 2 months away but if this weather holds maybe sooner.
