300 Sundancer questions.

I see you have an extension on you fwd berth. Did it come that way? Can you post more pics of that so I can make mine like that too. The one thing I would change on the boat in the fwd bed because it's too short and that looks like a solution to the issue. Thanks.
The previous owner had it made. It naturally fits on a shelf on the starboard side and it has a folding leg (a wood stick - I may change that to a metal pole) on the port side. Its really solid. My wife loves it. It does block access to the port storage cabinet under the TV. So I'll use that for little used or long term storage stuff. I'll take a few pictures of it separately and post them.

Can u take some more pics of the bed extension i really like the idea !!
Here are some pics. One note: There is a contact point at the pointed end with the back of the salon sofa to fit it snug. Its worn a hole in the salon sofa vinyl (on the removable curved trim strip). A plastic guard of some kind would deal with this friction. The filler is basically a custom cut piece of plywood covered with a matching dense foam attached to it. The wood base is covered in vinyl and the foam is covered in fabric. The edge is another strip of vinyl covered wood.

ZZ....congrats on the new 300! That v-berth extension is an interesting idea. It was too cramped for us so we converted the mid-berth to our full time sleeping quarters.

miami.....I could hit 44mph with 5.0s and BIIs when I first got the boat. After loading tons of gear on board and a RIB on the back, around 38mph is my top end.

I just ran 44mph today with 1/4 fuel,3/4 water, and 2 people turning 4800rpm. We hit the 75 hour mark for the year with three months to go.

I went out to the marina to get some things done in the cabin before they hauled it out for detailing, and it was already out, ready for detail to start tomorrow. So I took the opportunity to change the zincs. Took me about 2 hours since I have never done it before. Here she is all ready to start detail tomorrow.

One thing I don't like is that the underside of the rub rail is caulked with clear caulk all the way around. The top of the rub rail is not caulked. I would have done the opposite so water couldn't get in from the top, but water could run out from the bottom if it did get in. There are some green mildew spots on/behind the clear underside caulk. I may take all that underside caulk off and then caulk the top of the rub rail. I notice there are two weep holes in the bottom of the rub rail on each side of the transom. Seems like those would get clogged real easy. Any opinions/recommendations on this rubrail caulk thing?

Looks very nice. Did the Hull have many scratches? Looks great!

There are a couple of scratches on the port side (look like light blue lines) and light scuffing at the waterline on the aft of both sides (seems like that could just be from debris while running along the water). But from a few feet out it looks really, really good.

I have some questions:

- It appears from the literature I have that the boat has both a 200w and 400w amp hooked up to the Clarion XMD3. I found the 400w amp under the v-berth and it is driving four crossover boxes which I assume are driving the four speaker pairs on the cockpit (there are so many wires bundled there - I got a full day ahead of me untaping the bundle and ziptieing and labeling the related ones so I can figure out why the helm speaker pair isn't working). Where would the 200w amp be hiding (I have searched everywhere - maybe there really isn't one) and is it what's driving the subwoofer under the helm? I am assuming the XMD3 itself is directly driving the two v-berth speakers.

- I am embarrassed to ask this one, but when I drain everything to winterize, do I just let it all run into the bilge and let the bilge pump move it out (the boat is slipped 24/7)?

- Anyone figure out an out of the way place to store the cockpit lounge filler cushion?

I have a 2005 300 Sundancer with twin 350's and she has a leak somewhere in the aft cabin. Im getting water under the bed right behind the bathroom and it is running onto the floor. Does anyone else have that problem, the water lines are not leaking either.

I usually shop vac the remaining water in the bilge. Are you running Antifreeze in everything as well? Boat sounds nice.

hey guys new to this type of boat is it normal to have water in the sump pump area ( and i mean in the fiberglass area not the plastic box with the filter and bilge pump in it )??? i seem to have some water there some times !! and where is that water from ???

If you're talking about the cabin, I'm going to say it is NOT normal, as mine has never had a drop of water in it. This also limits my experience with finding the source so hopefully someone else will chime in.

I agree. Water should be in the plastic box, not outside of it. Check the lines coming in from the AC condensate and shower drain.

Its not normal, but it may not be a castastrophy. The 300DA I just bought had a shorted out shower sump pump so I learned more than I wanted to about this system. The plastic box was full and was overflowing to the bilge area (I replaced the pump and all is back to normal) The bilge area also has its own float switch and pump. In addition to the shower waste, the a/c condensate runs into that plastic box. Make sure both float switches and both pumps are working, and the breaker isn't tripped (its in the aft door next to the cockpit fridge). Then make sure both the hose connections from the shower and the a/c drain aren't leaking. There also is a check valve in the plastic tube between the sump pump and the edge of the plastic box where the water is pumped out of the box. Make sure its not clogged with anything. It could be restricting the rate the shower water is pumped out causing the box to overflow until the pump catches up. If all this checks out and/or you never use your shower, then water is running down from elsewhere in the cabin (leaky a/c drip pan, leaking window seam, defrosted refridgerator water, etc)

thanks for responding both floats and pumps r working and clean the box doesnt seem to be overflowed but there is some water in there sometimes ive checked the hose connections and those r fine what else can it be ?? havent used the shower !!
