Trying to find out if its ok to hook my shore power up to my home outlet in order to run my battery charger during the winter.

Should be fine if that is all you are running. The AC would probably trip the breaker in the house.

Yes, It will be fine. I keep my 270 plugged in 24-7.
I am ruining a ceramic heater and 2 compact florescent lights 24-7 also the trickle charger.
Just make sure it's a good 20 Amp outlet " No more that that in a household socket.
I have a dedicated 40 Amp outlet and a plug from my shop so I can load up the shore powers safeguards...

Just make sure you have a good checking ground at the boat.

Thanks

Checking ground?

Im assuming i can just use a 15 amp to 30 amp marinco adapter connected to a decent outdoor extension cord?

or i guess i could use a 30 amp to 15 amp adapter and just use my shore power cord which is much heavier than a regular outdoor extension cord.

Sorry, A sure ground in the cord at the shore power plug at the boat.

90% of the time that is the way mine is hooked up. Like somebody already said check your ground and reversed polarity. Heck what do I know SD are not supposed to have shore power (Grin)
