Just purchased a 1986, 340 EC that has a 30 AMP receptacle in the cockpit in addition to 2- 30 AMP receptacles on the port side midship.
Question : Is this an OEM configuration or an aftermarket mod for convenience

I suspect it's an add on but potentially dangerous one. If the 2 outside receptacles are connected to shore power check to see if the cockpit receptacle is live. If it is someone could get electrocuted by the exposed terminals. Doesn't matter if there is a hinged cover on them.

I had that exact boat, the two on the port side are factory. If there is one in the cockpit that is for convenience. But I suspect that the side ones have been disabled or need to be. I ran that boat with only one 30A even with the AC on. I was always going to move the AC to the 2nd outlet, but I also moved the power to the transom as well.

Thanks for your feedback. Obviously this will be at the top of the spring to-do list

We had a new 300we with a cockpit 30 amp receptacle. We used it for an electric heater. Pretty common to see them In cockpits of that era.
