Well we had a friend show us a New 2005 Regal 3350 for $130,000 and we are trying to decide if it's a better deal than a 2006 290 or 300 for about the same price. Moving from our 240. Any thoughts? Thanks!

you are trying to compare 3 very different boats.... a 3350 is comparable to the 320DA in the SeaRay line. The 300DA and the 290DA are the next 2 smaller boats in the SeaRay line....

3350 - 34'8" length 11'4" beam
320DA - 35'6" length 11'5" beam

300DA - 33'4" length 10'5" beam
290DA - 31'1" length 9'6" beam

if you are looking in the 290 and 300 areas... you may also want to consider the 310DA and 280DA.

price is one of many factors which determine how great a deal something is..... drive the various boats.... get a survey on the boat(s) you like..... this will allow you to make a better, more informed decision.

Regal has a strong following. The bigger boat probably has more features or at least more comfort. Agree with the advice to try them both.

I was on the regal site earlier today looking at their cruisers myself, and while looking at the specs on them I noticed that it seemed like all of them use the balsa core construction. What are the +'s and -'s to balsa coring other than making the boat a bit lighter???

The deciding factor is how you plan on using the boat.
If it's a "day boat", a smaller, more maneuverable, quicker boat is more "fun" to drive.
Similar in concept to a sporty car and a sedan.
If it's a weekend cottage, elbow room is most important.
One foot of width is allot more important than 2 feet of length.

Not being really familiar with the Regal line, only you can decide between the manufacturers.

You know that none of us on this forum are biased!!!

Thanks for the thoughtful responses. We use our boat in the bay and the ocean is close by. Both overnight and day cruise. The Regal is a 2005 "New" for around $130,00 - I was trying to compare similarly priced (ie. "new" 2005/6) Sea Rays. I agree the 320 is more in it's class but I think price might be not so close. Not sure though and I will find it out.

You may want to visit the regal owners site for some additional comments. I have a friend who ownes a 3350 and just loves it. I personally think it is a great boat.
