swim platform is 90% done

Now you need to get that thing in the water to verify it wont pop a wheelie when you hit the throttles

My fingers are crossed other wise there is going to be a 290 on eBay lol

Hey guys, I bought a 1994 290 sundancer this spring and was wondering if someone could answer a few questions. First of all when the boat is sitting at the dock it has a noticeable list to the port side. It seems strange that almost everything on the boat is on the port side.... fuel tank is offset to port, bathroom is on the port side...kitchen is on the port side. The only things on the starboard side are 2 batteries and a water heater. I have a spot for another battery on the starboard side so I was thinking about finding 2 (heavy as possible) batteries and putting them there to try and balance it out. There is also no water in the heater at the moment so Im not sure if that will help or not. The boat has twin 4.3's no gennie. I have to believe that something is missing from that side causing the issue! Also does anyone know how to get the cushion out of the dinette and the v-berth that is screwed in? I cant get um out to save my life!

Dont worry, they all (at least the twins) seem to list to port a little. I even have a generator on the STBD side and mine still leans to port. But since the cockpit seating in also generally to STBD it seems to level out a bit if there is people on board & sitting down. It doesnt take much trim tab to bring it fully level while underway.

Some easy things you can do to try and limit it though are to store as much stuff under the dinette seats & V-berth as possible while limiting whats stored on the port side. Also, if your waste tank is to port, keep it as empty as possible.

With regard to some other items in your post, if you have twins I believe you should already have 3 batteries. Two to Stbd and one to port to start the port engine. Also, you said your water heater is to STBD...are you sure? On my boat (and every other 290 of this vintage I've seen) the water heater is behind a removable panel on the port wall of the mid-cabin berth.

My hot water heater in on stb. Side . The v birth cushion comes out by unscrewing the track if that's the one you are talking about. I think the side bolsters are screwed in underneath with an angle bracket .

Put the boat in today no issues with the swim platform. So far I am likening the response out of the 4 blade props pops on plane in 1/2 the time as the 3 blades and cruising rpm is about 400 to 500 rpm lower even with the extra 150 lbs of platform hanging off the stern. When I get all the electronics fired up I will post specs. Now if I can get the rest of my canvas back from the shop ill be set p.s. she had them since last oct.

Greeeeeeat...now I have to spend a couple grand on a new platform...thanks alot Sal! Seriously, it looks great!

As to your new props, my minimum planing RPM is about 3,100-3,200 with 3 blades. Due you know what your new minumum is now?

Sorry i havent replied in a few days. My hot water heater is on the starboard side in the engine bay next to the engine and aft of the 2 batteries. In the mid birth behind the port access panel is an exide inverter.

I wish that was my set-up..I am constantly checking the mid-cabin area for leaks in the hot water tanks since I know it will happen someday. Would be nice to not worry about it so much since I'd rather have it leak into the bilge.
