290 sundancers 1994-midyear 97 "We need a thread"

Sadler, http://www.rocktheboataudio.com/html/26.html#details I found these and have read some great reviews. Have you heard anything about them? I think they will fit, it will be close. I couldnt agree more with your opinion of the boat, after looking for all the perks of generator and air it was a no brainer. And it offers the single motor which was a must! i didnt want two problems.

Jimmy, they are similar to the polyplanar speakers I added to the front of my boat. I describe them in a post here: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.ph...rs-to-the-Cockpit-of-a-290?highlight=speakers

However, I wanted to use the cavity in the radar arch as a sort of infinite baffle to reinforce the bass since I already had good highs with the front speakers. It looks like the MA905s have a closed back. But if not, they would work with the arch cavity too. My rear speakers also have a large air volume behind them--larger volume than the arch, so probably the end result is lows in the rear, mids in the arch, and highs on the dash. The sound by the way is very clear with a wide freq. response. I also changed the head unit--it's in an earlier post also.

Here's a close up of what I used in the arch. Looks they are Pioneer brand.
Update: Looks they are Pioneer TS-MR1640 marine speakers http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS-MR1640-6-5-Inch-Marine-Speakers/dp/B0002J23V8

Thank you Ill order some today! Has anyone put sun pads on the top deck? I wnat a custom one that isnt like the reg sunpad option. My boat does not have the rails, I am wanting something that uses up most of the top space. Any experience with having this done or doing it yourself is appreciated

With regard to the carpet. I suggest you get the aft piece divided into three sections so you can access each hatch without having to remove the carpet. They should have a template for it now since I ordered it that way and gave them the dimensions. Otherwise, the aft section is one full piece. You will have to add some snaps, but its worth it in my opinion.

Dont have any advise on the bow cushion, other than to say that I have a $70 foam pool float thats gets used up there on occasion with no complaints . You could have one custom made by a marine upholstry shop, but it would likely run several hundred dollars. The price for marine grade foam padding seems to be crazy these days.

Every time I look at my boat I find something else I want to fix. Anyone ever replaced the windshield screw cover insert?

I was wondering if you guys know if there is a bilge pump in the fwd cabin area under the floor. Not talking about the sump pump in the aft cabin. Since the cabin center floor is not accessable if it were to get water under the floor how would it get out. Just a thought. Thanks

True. Mildew, bad smells, and a wet hull. Mine has failed I think three times over the life of the boat. It's so buried, it's easy to miss a failure. Sea Ray should have included a high water alarm like in the bilge.

Time Well Wasted,

I bought the Teleflex CH7800 controls which I think are the same as you installed. Did you have any trouble with the change or have any tips?

Jeff

Well the past month been busy re powering the engine and up dated upholstery. Couldn't be happier with the new look. Even buffed the hull and put new emblems and stirpes. Amazing how much you can get done in a month. Had a friend do the upholstery and another friend and I installed the new engine. Here are a few picts. of the old and new upholstery.

That upholstery looks very nice. I like the subtle changes in the lines. It looks a little more elegant now.

The embroidery in the seat back is a nice touch too.

It's little details like that that show that an owner truly cares for his boat.

The embroidery was only $18.00 each. That was kind of a no brainer to do. The friend who did the upholstery wanted to have them done on the helm seats facing fwd. Since there was a larger open space on the rear of the helm seats I wanted it there. Thanks
