So my cabin door on my 1998 290 sundancer is a bit hard to open and I am trying to get a feel for the effort to replace the track and rollers. Appreciate any feedback on your past experience with this project.

On my 98 290 i used some spray lube on the bottom and top track. These are older boats and need lube on everything. After moving it a couple times it should free up for ya

I had a sliding cabin door on our 05 260 that had deteriorated nylon blocks at the top of the door. Repairing it properly would have entailed removing the entire dash so the door could be removed to facilitate replacing the tracks and hardware. I bought some generic nylon blocks that were fatter than the originals and shaved them to the correct thickness. Then I pryed the door up at the top and slid the blocks into place.

I blew the junk out of the bottom track with compressed air and sprayed some Teflon based lube in there.

If it’s the bottom track I can take a picture of how I replaced the trucks without removing the door when I’m next at the boat.

I removed the screws from the Bottom track where it attaches to the door and slid it out as much as I could. You then have to cut the track in half. Once it’s in 2 pieces you can remove it completely so you can replace the trucks. You can also clean the other side of the track

aside from a seam once reassembled it’s like new. This is an alternative to removing the entire helm station

I looked back and what I used was this SKU 089-10306 from Boat Outfitters.com

Here is my door and the black strip is broken. I asked SeaRay for a part diagram to understand the mechanism on the bottom of the door. I assume that Streacker25 took the screws off and was able to remove the strip in sections. Do you know what parts are on the bottom of the door? BTW I have seen a few YouTube helm removals and no thanks :)

On my '99 270, PO replaced door track, but didn't put helm back correctly and door were rubbing on helm.
I removed the help cleaned tracks when I was at it and reinstalled, it's not as hard as it might looks.

If you have problem with bottom only.
1.slide door in, remove outside screws.
2.slide out, use access door on helm to remove inside screws.
3.cut, slide out, slide new one in.

There is a trick for upper as well, but require some fabricates tools and drilling the hole.
1. take upper track out same method as bottom, but you need weird shape screwdriver
2. you need to find a point which both nylon blocks can reach depending on door position
3. drill a hole from cabin at this point., now you can use this access hole for screwdriver to remove blocks.
4. put new track with inserted blocks, drill a hole in track to match with access hole, screw new blocks ti door.

My suggestion if you have to replace both, take the helm out, it's less effort then trying to do 2 not so easy workarounds, if it's only bottom, I would go with workaround, top one is pretty hard.

I'm looking at your picture, you're saying black strip deattached from the door?
It should have either wheels or balls rolling in the track and other end is just screwed to the door.
on my model it's screwed from outside directly to door, your might be from the bottom,in which case you have to remove the helm, or if you confirm track is in good condition and slider is ok, just make 4 holes and out screws from outside.
