2006 amberjack shower bilge - when the shower box overflows where does that water go? My buddy just got the boat and swears it doesn't go to the engine bay, I have not been able to see it yet, anyone have that model and know ? Thanks

It will go into the engine room as well as in your galley pending on how much water u overflow... Tell your friend to get a water witch, electronic switch to turn pump on. The regular float switch sucks as they get mucked up with soap scum and other foreign material. Also check the on check valve on the outflow of the pump. Mine was collapsing along with a bad float switch; had a disaster with wet carpet on more than one occasion. Installed the water witch, no issue since...

a side question but were you able to find a replacement check valve? Mine was shot so i just pulled it out for now but it's annoying because there is always a little water in the sump. I don't want to replace a working sump just for a valve

The original check valve was likely a 3-lobe rubber affair. Mine also went bad and the sump water ran back into the box causing pump cycling.

I replaced mine with a properly sized Raritan check valve. It uses a ball and spring mechanism, and has been working well for about 8 years.

Thanks for tip, I don't get much run back in my sump box so thought about jut leaving it out; where did you find the rariTan?
