I’m looking for the best place to drill. Where did you mount your flagpole? 2005 280DA

Thanks,

Ensign Ettiquette: from http://www.usps.org/f_stuff/etiquett.html#us-ensign

"Generally, the national ensign should be displayed at the peak of the gaff, i.e., the outer end of the spar extending aft from the mast of your boat—if you boat has a gaff. If it does not, fly it from the flagstaff at your boat's stern. If your boat has an overhanging boom or an outboard motor, your flagstaff may be offset to starboard (preferably) from your boat's centerline."

Thats about where mine is....above the 310 decal

310 & 260 both have similar locations. It sounds like the logical place. Do you have any traffic problems on the swim platform? Does it become a handle?

Thanks for posting pics.

On mine we have a swim handle mounted above the transom door...the flag mount on our 310 would be to high to grab getting onto the platform

But maybe to grab if your on the swim platform and the boat jerks suddenly??? yes its a grabber

Paul,

I bought "The Swiveler" flag pole and rail mounts for both my bow rail and for the stern rail on our 07' 280DA and they look great and allow the flags to free swivel 360 degrees. You can open up the rear comaprtment with the 19" swiveler flag pole just fine without having to remove it. Check them out at www.swiveler.com

I mounted mine where the factory did. It id nice because you can put your pole in and out with no problems while standing at the door.

I may be missing something, but your link goes to a very nice picture of Curious George drawing a picture of a Christmas Tree... cute...but not terribly helpful

Paul,

Oops! make that read www.originalswiveler.com
Lenny Mattos is the owner and his outfit produces an outstanding flapole (solid 316SS and a swivel system that allows a full 360 rotation of flag) and flagpole mount system (machined anodized aluminum). I will have to remember the link to Curious George. Mitch

My wooden flagstaff is from My Grandpa's boat. I told my family that it's not a handle. No one's touched it.
