I'm getting ready to order a boat name for my 2002 280DA and I want to put the name on the compartment door on the back of the boat that flips up. My boat is stored in Tennessee and I am in Cincinnati and I need to know what the dimensions of this door are.

Is there a 280 owner out there that is close to their boat that can give me the dimensions this compartment door so I know how big to make my lettering?

Thanks!!

I did mine below the transom locker door

I may be able to mine tomorrow but it's shrink wrapped so I'm not sure if I'll be able to measure. I think my lettering was 37.5" if that helps

I like the way yours looks. I may have to reconsider how I was going to do mine. Do you remember what the height of your letters were?

I see you are from Cincinnati. Where do you do your boating?

Sorry, I do not have the deminsions but I applied mine in the same place Jimi Thing did but I arched mine and is fit perfecly around the shore power cord hole.

My boat is slipped at Mariners Landing on the Westside. I mainly boat on the mighty Ohio but once each year I tow to Norris for a week. I can't remember who I bought the lettering from (it was a link on boattrader.com) but I think they were either 5 or 6" I'm leaning towards 5" though and I think I remember them at 37.5" long

Mine was done across the door, but started to the left of the door and extended to the right of the door. The seam of the door cut through the lettering, but looks better than tiny letters isolated to the door itself. I'll try to post a picture.

Here is how I did mine on a 2006 280. Don't remember the size of the door but I may have it at work. I own a sign company so I did my own. I know we have the file at work so once I get that I will get the info to you.

Black and gold reflective vinyl.

John,

I had to measure under the shrink wrap. I was inside leaning over the transom and there was just enough room to look in between the wrap and the transom. The hatch is about 32 inches long. It also appears that it is 12" high, 10" from the bottom to the grab handle. It looks like there is 6-7" between the top of the hatch latches and the bottom of the grab rail. My lettering looks like it is 6" high.

Henry

John, just got back from boat and can confirm some of Henry's measurements. 32 1/4" wide and 15" high. You have 10 1/2" from bottom to the grab handle mounts. The latches are set in 4 7/8" from each side and 1 1/2" from the bottom and there is 17 5/8" in-between the two latches. From the bottom to the top of each latch is 3 7/8".
Hope this helps.
Mark

Although I have the 260, the letters fit nicely as in my profile pic.
