Hello all. I've been boating on Lake St. Clair in Michigan for almost ten years now in my 21' Powerquest. My wife and I have decided it's time to move up.

The 280 sun sport has caught our attention. I have searched all over the internet and these forums in depth looking for information about this specific model. The one I am looking at is a 97 with twin 5.7's and alpha's. It seems to be well maintained.

My main question is about fuel consumption. What can I expect? Any specific areas of concern with this model?

The owner said the port side drive needed a rebuild last year due to a bearing failure. I'm assuming the gimbal bearing went out. I asked but he was unsure of specifics. He also said he is running aluminum props due to the stainless ones getting bent. That also piqued my interest. The port tach was intermittent. It stayed buried at 6k rpm for about 5 minutes, then resumed operation. The digital display on the depth finder was missing a few segments of the numbers (LCD). The searchlight may not have been working either. Not sure. Outside of that, everything seemed to be in order. Most of these issues are minor, and to be expected on at 13 year old boat.

Any tips, insight, advise before I fall too far in love with this boat?

Thanks again,

Andrew

p.s. Almost forgot, he's asking 29,500. Good? Bad? Ugly?
