any experience in playing with props on these boats? It's an 06 4.3's w/ alphas w/ gen. and bottom paint, warm to hot salt water cruising. Looking for efficient high/fast cruise speed.

I have the boat pulled and spray the bottom with PAM then drop er back in. It keeps the warm salt water from sticking to the bottom and increases the speed by 10 MPH! Never thought of messing with the props though.

It might be easier this way. How fast a cruise speed would satisfy you? How fuel efficient would satisfy you? I know you said eartlier you wanted a longer range. Once you figure out what you'd like to be able to do, then find a boat that can do it. I does not sound like the 280 can can take care of your needs.

I dropped my props off at the local prop scan guys... they did a very nice job.... unfortunately only able to get out a couple times since getting them back. I have not captured any difference in numbers yet... but I would guess I may see some very subtle improvements.

Thanks. Just looking to maximize efficiency on a terrific boat. I apologize for all of my questions but I am very excited. We close on the boat at the end of the month (pending sea trial and survey)

I think Jeremy might be used to the boating meca in St. Louis. If he's seen salt water it was probably on a Carnival cruise.

I have the same boat. 4.3V-6's with Alpha One outdrives. I went to four blade props and got a lot better out of the water response and only lost one or two miles on top end. It even docks a little better with the four blades, gives more control.
