The lower "trucks" hace failed on my cabin door on my 280 DA. We can't take the door jaming all the time and have made the decision to get it fixed. My Sea Ray dealer has told me that the "trucks" that fit my door are no longer available and they need to replace the tracks upper and lower and instal the new trucks. Long story short my dealer has quoted me $1400.00 to get this done. Can anyone chime in on this ??

I find it hard to believe that the trucks are no longer manufactured. I had the my upper trucks replaced last year under warranty.

I have a link to the manufacturer but I need to dig it up. I will post it when I find it unless someone beats me to it.

Your boat is a 2008 and that is the new system they are going to instal. They went away from my "block" style to your new roller style. I wish I had made the decision to get it fixed sooner.

I actually have the block style as well. It's basically a square piece of nylon that slides in the track.

Bad news is that I think I was wrong....they are no longer manufactured. It appears Spartech made them and they got out of the marine business.

Wish I would have bought a few extra last year when they were replaced.

What do your trucks look like? Mine are the block/roller style. They are manufactured by Teak Isle :

The person I spoke with is Jim Cox. He was very helpful to me. Here is what mine look like :

VW – you don’t have rollers? Are you positive? My 280 is a 2003 and I have rollers.

The old website owner (Jeremy?) had posted detailed step by step instructions for this project because he did it himself. Any chance anyone here has a copy of it?

I remember he had to remove the dash and throttles. It’s not as bad as it sounds.

You remove the connectors to the gauges, label as you go, throttles, actually that plastic piece all around them, the dash top then you can lift out the door.

My dealership is telling me the starboard windshield needs to be removed, dash removed, steering system removed, and electronics disconnected. More that I feel I am capable of doing by myself. If someone can direct me to find the correct "trucks" for a 2003 that will save me $243.00 of this bill ( less the cost of 1 truck)

Can anyone tell me how lond your replacements have lasted ???

We are still on the original rollers.

I do clean the lower track with Kleenex about every other day onboard then lube with tri-flow from Wal-Mart about every other week.

I can’t imagine many doors see more use then ours. We are a family of 5 that spend over 30 nights /year onboard.

One finger and I can move the door.

If you do it yourself, be very careful with the windshield. The PO (actually his insurance co) of our boat had the starboard windshield replaced because of a broken side window. It was an all or nothing deal and the starboard half is a $ 4000.00 part.

I should have read this more carefully the first time. I missed where you said it was the lower trucks that were bad so my previous comments are worthless. But for what it's worth, the dealer replaced my upper trucks without pulling the dash and windshield. The upper ones are more accessible but maybe there is a chance of replacing the lower ones without pulling apart the boat.

The tracks can be removed without tearing into the gauges, searing, etc. Leaving the door in place you can R & R the lower track in 2 hrs. I have done it. It's helpful if you have an extra set of hands, but not mandatory.

Not the same boat, but on my 93 400EC the sliders also failed. Dealer suggested replacing the entire rail system as well. But after review how that would actually work, it wouldn't.

These sliders (trucks) were a nylon material about an inch and half long. I ended up having them fabricated locally by a friend for $100.00

Trucks are available at teakisle.com. I have a 2008 280DA and the upper trucks needed to be replaced. My marina was able to do this without removing the door, helm etc.
