What kind of support does the bow filler cushions have? I did not get any with the boat I recently purchased and was thinking of having one made. Also, where might I purchase this at if I can't find what I need to make these

Sounds like you have the cushion? It's basically a three piece false floor that covers the entire opening between the two bow seats. It rides on the fiberglass that the seats sit on. I'm not sure if there is a lip there or not for it to center itself but it overlaps by a few inches each side with the sides having a slight arc. Mine is either starboard or laminated mdf or something lightweight and similar-can't remember. It does have angle stock on the underside for rigidity and to help it center port/starboard. Make it as one piece then rip it east/west so it's in three manageable pieces. Won't be at the boat until August but could take a pic if you still have questions.

Yup, the standard issue is something like a "lightweight" version of Starboard (maybe even a PVC based product). Really, though, just about anything will work (even plywood) - especially if you brace it underneath with the PVC/plastic L-channel. It does sit on a built in "lip" around the perimeter of the opening which you should be able to see very easily. The lip is about 3/4"-ish deep. The only place to buy one pre-made would be a Sea Ray dealer, unless you can find a used one online somewhere.

If you make it I would encourage you to be sure to add the extra support on the bottom. Mine came with a 3 piece insert with no extra supports of any type. It tends to sag after a while but I flip them over from time to time and the Centre piece did get pushed through once when a teenager walked on it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. If anyone owns a 270 Sundeck could take a pic of the supports and cushions I think I may try to make my own. Thanks again, I'm really enjoying reading around on this site

I'll be back in August & will happily send you the pictures. You should definately make them yourself. Unfortunately I'm down in key west right now driving around my buddy's center console. I hate the way these south Florida boaters live.

Here is a picture of mine. I like the hinge and folding design.... But with the 3/4" starboard it is heavy

Thanks for those photos, it was very helpful to finally see how this thing looks. I also have to build one of these for my 220 SD, as I can't find the part anywhere.

I am thinking about buying a table mount insert to install on the underside of the support and then cutting down a table pole to size to beef things up a bit...maybe that would be overkill.

That's probably overkill... but always something you could add later if necessary

Can't go wrong with 3/4" plywood, mine stays in 90% of the time but strong enough to dance on!

I would avoid using the table mount. My filler cushions stay in 95% of the time and the space underneath is a great spot to stuff our tube (deflated) purses, shoes, noodles and anything else that we don't want to be walking around.

So I ended up finding a bow-filler cushion set on craigslist a few hours away instead. (too good to be true)

I have an '03 Sundeck 220 and these came from a '00 Sundeck 210. Though the cushion fits perfectly, I am going to have to shave about a half inch off the 3 support panels so they sit nicely on that lip and not above it.
Shouldn't be much of a problem, I think I'll make a cardboard cutout first and then trace that over the pieces.

Hope this info might help someone in the future, but I'll put some pictures up when I'm done.

Suggestions welcome.

Here are the pieces I bought:

Glad to hear those parts work out for you CT!

Remember to measure twice before you cut - your idea of cardboard template sounds like the way to go.

When using cardboard, make sure you're using cardboard with no creases in it so it's accurate. I sometimes like to take it one step further and transfer the cardboard to a piece of hardboard - I can make any final adjustments to the hardboard and once I'm satisfied with that, then I make it permanent.

Thanks Tony,

Well, I love me a good DIY project, and just in time for a big day tomorrow with 8 people coming out on the boat.

As I said, the support boards were a bit too large :

So I started out by laying some cardboard (reinforced) over the area and weighed it down a bit so it couldn't shift around on me. Then I wiggled underneath and traced the upper edge.

Cut that out, and laid it over the boards, and you can see here the difference in shape between a 2000 210, and my 2003 220.

Cut and installed.

This is great- and with a few pillows over the front cooler, I have enough space to sleep out on the boat now.

Good job, CT. I'll take your advice when I get enough posts to list something. The camper set is gone, all I have left is the table & post.
