well I had finally had it with my old 240 weekender with the 351 windsor and decided it was time for an upgrade. I just pust my deposit down on a 1986 270 sundancer and could not be more happy! I really want to do some offshore fishing as well as camping so its seems perfect with the twin freshwater cooled engines. I have one gripe though the captains/fwd/aft/cooler seating arrangement. Mine seams to be lacking thereof. I guess sea ray did several different seating designs? I looked at other pictures and its not like the ones i see. So I guess I am asking where I should start looking to get some seating for this boat. Im willing to bet that anything t from 1986 to 1994 would work perfectly. If anyone has some ideas please let me know! Thanks formerly Go Phish and No On The Rocks!

congrats, pictures please  ya they did some different seating layouts in these 270's for sure. I'd say anything from 82-88 would be a direct swap, and although not confirmed i'd guess the 89-91? 280 seating would also be a direct fit. in 89 the 270 dropped to a 9' beam (think bigger 68) so those years may not be as easy of a swap. that said it might just be easier to build new seating yourself, as we all know finding OEM parts for 80's sundancers isn't an easy task.

Thanks guys! I am really enjoying it for sure. Got it for 7 even with less than 80 hrs on fresh rebuilds. I cannot wait to get into the gulfstream. I live in Va and want to to it to the obx. Yall have to fool with towing permits? Any idea of mpg with twin 4cyl? i beilieve it has a 125 gallon tank and want to be sure i will have plenty to get too the gulf fish and getback

I have a set of similar questions regarding the seating layout. I would like to know of options to put a smaller (2 person) seat at the helm. And have a single seat next to the helm seat that swivels so that person can talk to those sitting at the stern. Has anyone done any modifications like this? If so, please post pictures and/or supply the details....custom build, aftermarket, from another boat?

Also, are there any suggested options for improving the helm seating....it is pretty low to the deck...has anyone replaced/modified their helm seat so it's a bit taller?

Lastly, same question for the seating behind the helm seating...has anyone changed from the split/fold down seating with the cup holders in the middle to something different.

Looking for ideas, suggestions and examples.

Thanks!

Patrick
