I have a 2001 270 searay sundancer and do not know of a radar arch that is
not a welded tube one. I would like to put the other style like on a 28ft and up.
If someone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks Forrest

As far as I know there is no fiberglass factory option for your boat. Not that one could not be fabricated but it would be costly I imagine (both design and material). The link above is to the original vender of the aluminum tube arch though. If you are in a location with a lot of aftermarket fabricators then a custom aluminum arch could also be made.

One of the reasons we decided to go for a 280DA... looking for a 270, then went to a boat show and was on a similar sized boat with an arch, and started looking for 280's. Only option is to find a custom Fab shop. I bet it would look great! But probably cost prohibitive...

I Agree with the other responses you have received. You can get an aluminum or spend more than it is worth for a custom fiberglass. This is a good looking example of an aluminum arch:

Looks powder coated white to me. MM

I toy with the idea of one mostly to give a place to put antennas. I do not need radar where I am located so I have been able to get away with other mounts for antennas so far but I would not have to be so creative if I had an arch.

We do not want the arch for on road trailering height, and to maintain as much on water stability with a 8'6" beam as possible. Often wondered if it was part of the issue with the 99+ 260 stability problems. MM

A radar arch raises the center of gravity and won't make a squirrelly boat handle any better. Also, you don't need to be towing with any part of an arch as the attachment point for the tow line. The arch isn't attached to a structural member of the boat and most likely has only fender washers and no backing plates behind the bolts.

I clarified my points above. Towing was to mean trailering. Sorry, MM

I also purposefully avoided an arch but I did so to decrease the height to allow an easier fit in my lift. I had nit thought about it raising center of gravity. I wonder how much they weigh. I would imagine less than 200 pounds for aluminum?

That was about my expectation of what it would weigh. With the gennie and the swimplatform added I do not want more weight especially aft of center. MM

Our 2000 270 has the arch and we love it. On the trailer we are 13' high with 13' 6" being legal. I can't believe that it causes any instability fro center of gravity being raised, this is a heavy boat anf the arch is aluminum. It holds our antennas, is a great hand hold for getting in and out and I can do my morning pullups on it. I sure don't believe that it isn't bolted securely, this thing wont move with a couple guys hanging on it. We are thinking of using it as a support for a pole for pole dancing competitions and I think we won't get to many complaints on that.

It is legal but much harder to find indoor storage for. We navigate many small harbor towns while hauling the 270. All jokes aside what do you really use it for besides antenna rack? Without radar what does a 270 need one for?

The arch is between 100-200 lbs, it will be attatched 4-5' above the water line and extend another 5' above the attatchment point. It is pure physics that a weight placed higher will affect the side to side stability. If one is on a an inland lake probably not a big deal but the Great Lakes and the coasts are a different story. MM

Anyone know of this company? http://www.jaykaymfg.com/04.htm

Now you're talking... no complaints here!

I like to put one on my 260, but she sits to high on the trailer. some of the overpasses are too low for me to fit under
