The SD that I've bought has problems with the cabinet doors, the coating on the thin strip sections is coming off every door, has anyone seen this or repaired it in any way? some help is needed here. We started cleaning the boat today and found that really the only thing it really needs on the outside is to be waxed and buffed. Found a man thats going to do the entire boat for 300 bucks. win win for me there. I keep taking pics and try to load them here to share the work with others but each time it tells me the picture is too big. Ive tried several times but not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Thank for the advise, I just downloaded the photo bucket and got one pic on my profile, ill load pics of the cabinet doors tomorrow.

I know this problem well as I am currently fixing the door laminates on my 268 here. Removed all relevant doors from the boat. I used a 1" chisel and gently cut out the thin strip sections entirely so was left with a flat surface and faint black lines from the bottom of the original channels. Then I cut and glued inserts into these areas. I used a matt white 4 mm signboard from my signwriter (has aluminum both sides with a solid plastic composite fill) which fitted nicely into the gaps. I only removed the thin strips so the bigger door has a 2" matt white strip down the side. Finished product is smart matt white doors with the original cedar trim. I will see if I can load some photos tomorrow.

Thank you very much

I'd like to request pics too please! Need to do something as well.

Also, what have people done to fix/replace those sliding/roll-away doors on the overhead cabinets above the dinette? Mine look like crap from stuff jaming in the rolling mechanism.

When I had to replace some of that "tambour door" (rolltop) material, I just got some new material and stained it to match as best as I could. Woodworking supplies like Rockler are a source for that material.

Cool. Thanks Play Dough.

Did not see you at Harbor View this year..??

Ok, here are the photos of the doors

The 4 mm sign panel fits into the inserts so it is recessed 1 - 2 mm. It doesn't absorb water, cuts with a sharp knife, planes like wood and is quite durable for daily use. Note - use only moderate pressure when clamping down for the adhesive as excessive pressure can mark the aluminium skin on the panels. This panel with its aluminum skin is gloss white one side and matt white the other. Now what to do about the flexible slide doors?

For right now I'm just taking the slide doors out

Re panel purchase. I am a long way from you but I can see it offered in USA under 'alucobond" or similar. I got mine from a local signwriter, 0.5sqm of board here cost US $ 20 so a low cost fix.
