A new neighbor bought an early 2000's (not sure of the exact year) 260DA with a single bravo three OD, generator, radar arch, full electronics, camper back, etc....a loaded boat. I'm not positive of the motor, but he said it was a big block. Can someone tell me what the motor options in this era 260DA were?

He is real new to the boat and doesn't know his range or his cruise speed. He will be traveling with me next weekend to a marina about 28 sMiles each way.....mostly ICW, but about 8 or so miles in the Ocean.

I can easily/comfortably cruise at 22 knots in the ICW or the Ocean. My real concern is how 'compatable' our cruise speeds will be.....I'm not really worried about his range.

Can you guys also tell me about his cruise speed and cruise RPMs?

thanks in advance....

If he has the 7.4 (if it is the big block) he'll can cruise nicely at 22 knots and around 32-3300 RPMS I would guess. I'm cruising at 3500 and around 24-25 knots depending on current, but I have the 5.7
The tank is 84 gallons and he'll burn around 12-14 gallons an hour.
He should be just fine.

Engine size could be a 7.4 or even a 6.2 (although the 6.2 isn't a big block, it did replace the 310HP 454). The 6.2 was available in 2001, completely replaced the 454 in 2002.

Find out the year, then check the archives on SR's site.

Thanks for the quick responses....I'll have to ask him for a little more details tonight...

I'm sure he will be able to match your speed and stay on plane.

This guy jumped in between Turtle Tone and I on our way back North from AC. I was cruising at about 23 to 24 knots and he started tailgating me. It looked like a 24 footer. He back-ed off when I started to throw lead weights at him.

I just spoke to my neighbor. He said he has a 2003 260DA with 5.0L 350 Mag with bravo III. Will he be able to hold 22 knots...or a little slower if the ocean conditions warrant?

thanks again....

Ummmm... Is it a 305 or a 350? Or does he one of those special, custom ordered 260's with a 5.0L on one side and a 5.7L on the other?

But, yes, he should be fine - either way - holding that speed. If he needs to, just use the tabs and he'll be able to hold a slower speed, as well.
