We bought our 2012 Sundeck in 2012 and have had it in a boatel from day one. The Sea Ray dealership where we bought it also runs the boatel so there was no need to buy a trailer as our plan was to boat on the Potomac. When we were in the process of buying the boat and before we decided to use the boatel I did inquire about a trailer and the price they quoted was somewhere in the $5K range. It has been 3 years and I honestly don't recall anything about the trailer they quoted.
Fast forward 3 years and we are looking into moving to a local lake and possibly buying a house also. We will more than likely have our own dock on the water so I shouldn't need to transport frequently.
However, I will need to move the boat to the lake either later this fall or sometime next spring. I am leaning towards the idea of buying a trailer (vs renting) just to have it available for whatever reason that may come up.
With that, I do not want to spend a ton of money on a trailer since we wouldn't use it that often. I imagine, though, that a trailer to haul a 260SD has to be fairly sturdy since the boat is on the bigger side of average for trailering.
2 questions:
- Does anyone own a middle of the ground trailer they use for a 260SD that is not $5K that they would recommend? Brand and model?
- If anyone lives in the DC/Northern VA area, can anyone provide a reference for a good dealer where I could buy a trailer?
