260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

I agree, listing issue has never been annoying for me. We've had our 05 260DA for 6 seasons now and it never bothered me one bit. Yes if it is super windy it will list, but a quick tap on the tabs and she'll straighten right out.

I had the dealer make the "Celery Stick" adjustment prior to my sea trial and although I had no prior experience piloting a 260DA to use for comparison, the boat planed quickly with no list. The only thing I see I'll have to get used to is the sensitivity of the tabs as the reaction is at lightspeed compared to my Regal. Survey/sea trial went very well. Hoping dealers survey of my Regal trade goes smoothly. I dying without boat...never started a season so late.

Thanks Rohan, pictures of your seating setup would be great Sir!
Here they are Tony. I hope this helps. Just realised it has 3 snaps, not 2...

Did you end up making a fill in Rohan?
Hi Che,

Really slack I know but I was just reviewing some old posts and noted I never put up the pictures of the in fill I made for the V-berth. Probably too late but here they are...

I use a piece of rubber protector mat over the teak table top and had a triangular cushion with a ply base made up for the infill. Not the best colour match I know but does the job. I used teak timber and stained to match the interior Cherry colour - or close at least. It basically just sits on the fibreglass seat support on either side and can easily be pulled up and stowed in the hanging cupboard to starboard.

Hello Fellow Sea Ray People,

I'm soon to join your fold as settlement is scheduled for this Thursday on my first Sundancer, a 2007 260DA. I'll miss my Regal but look forward to joining the family.

Having sold all of my previous boat privately I never knew the joy of trading in a boat at a dealer and what a FUN (grueling):smt021 process that is. My trade was torn apart and I have come to know the pain of owning a boat with a Volvo composite outdrive. In the end the deal changed substantially but I'm happy to be rid of that outdrive. Shame really as the boat was great otherwise.

Again I look forward to adding my findings and contributing here.

I'll post pics Thursday on the ride home to the South River, MD.

Hate to be a Rookie but I added a signature, saved it but its not showing up in my posts? does it have to be approved?

I was a rookie one year ago. We have owned ours for one year today. Thanks to the folks here, I have sure learned a lot. The only thing that mine has been to the shop for was to pull the engine to replace the oil pan. I have done the rest.

I hope you enjoy your new 260DA.

Every time i look at this thread I am reminded how much I miss my 260DA. It has been tough being without a boat.

Hope all of you are enjoying your summer.

Hey Dave,
I honestly feel for you and trust you are doing well. I had to pull my main DC panel under the cockpit sink to change out my battery charger breakers. After reading your post about this, I had reconciled that I would have to do as you did as the panel was not going to go back due to the fuel/vent lines. I removed the 4-screws that hold it in place, changed the breakers, and it slid right back into place.

I guess sometimes we are due for something to be easy. BTW, wiring schematic and parts manual show the two breakers to be 50amp. Mine were in fact 20amp. I changed them to 50amp to support my new Promariner 1240. Wires were heavy enough.

Transom door sticking

I am having an issue with the transom door sticking. It tends to do it all the time but it is worse when I am standing on the hatch trying to exit the boat. Is there any way to fix this? The door doesn't look like its sticking out any further. Can it be shaved? Its really getting to the point where I have to slam it to get it to latch.

By chance...are any of the hinge mounting screws stripped out? I did not have this issue, but I did have the top two screws that go into the hull stripped allowing my door to be really loose and sag a little. Some epoxy fixed this issue. Has it always done this? If not, I would look for what has changed. Should be easy to figure out.

I had that problem with my 260DA as well. I removed the hinges from the door then used a file in the hinge mount area of the door to take off about a 1/16th of an inch of material. I put the hinges back on and the door would then close freely again.

Does anyone have a stock 2005-2009 260 cockpit speaker? I'm selling my 260 and only the starboard speaker up in the cockpit works. I'd love to just pick up a used stock speaker if anyone has one. LMK

I am thinking about side mounting additional cleats back at stern for securing spring lines. I have been finding it a pain when I'm tying up alone using the factory mounted ones in middle of boat when my side windshield curtains are up. Anyone add cleats or have other options they'd care to share?

If any of you who own a 2005-2008 260DA would like to see Smartcraft Information displayed on a Chartplotter or if you want real time fuel burn information, you may want to consider purchasing the (brand new) Chartplotter with Smartcraft Gateway that I have listed for sale in the classified section. http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/73329-For-Sale-Brand-New-Northstar-550-Chartplotter-with-Smartcraft-Interface

I am mentioning this ad here since I thoroughly enjoyed this set up on my 260DA. And this set up is very similar to the Vessel View system on larger Sea Ray cruisers. The ability to see multiple displays of Smartcraft information at the same time is really helpful in my opinion as is the fuel burn numbers if you are trying to achieve your best fuel mileage.
