260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to go ashore when moored or anchored.

i depends on what purpose. going ashore in shorts to quickly stick your feets in sand - you can do it on an air mattres or any sporting device ( tube etc ).

going ashore with your wife fully dressed to enter the restaurant i,m not sure if even the 11feet rubbercraft will work when you alone are 380 lbs.

i recommend just to try it out !

We have a small inflatable that I blow up with a pump when we anchor. It is about 8' with oars. When we move, I place it on the bow and throw it back overboard when we stop. Works well for us to take the dog to shore to do her "business." I am 6'4"/225 and it satisfies our need. You will have to find one with the weight capacity you need and see if it will work for you.

Bennett, what brand of dinghy do you have and is it an air floor? Ive been collecting info/advice from many dinghy owners to aid in my search...

It is an Intex with an inflatable floor. It is basically a cheap POS that I bought on the spur of the moment. We normally use floats and swim to shore, but decided to go out for a weekend after the water got too cold. However, it serves our purpose. Good luck.

So we are still waiting for the river to thaw so we can do our survey. However I was wondering if anyone can advise on a dinghy setup for an 05 260DA. The hitch is that I am on the larger side at 6'6 380lbs so it needs to be able to transport me and at least 1 other person plus any supplies. Would it just be easier to get a dock or anchor/moor in an area serviced by water taxi?

Thoughts?

Take a look at this site. I'm thinking about this idea to tow my two jet skis.

Well looks like I'll be on this thread a bit more. We are closing on a 2005 260DA April 11th. This is our first boat and we are really looking forward to the new adventure. Wish us luck.

Get a good survey and have fun! We have had ours for 10 months and have had a blast. We trailer between 4 big lakes all 1-1.5 hrs away and keep it at home. We have spent the last 10 months making it "ours." Be prepared for some work if you do your own maintenance, but very worthwhile!

Welcome and enjoy!

Already Surveyed and it passed with flying colors. Around 300hrs on the engines and generator and service records showing all maintenance done by the dealer. We are keeping her on the occoquan river in Woodbridge Virginia and see what there is to see between Georgetown the Chesapeake Bay.

Welcome Aboard!

We're all over the Bay in our 260 - had it a couple years now.
hope to make the trip up the Potomac to DC this summer.

If either of you trailer, or make it out to the middle bay area, let me know. I can give you some ideas where to launch or meet up with you on the water. I'm just south of Annapolis.

Yes, I cover the cabinet door with plastic when showering. I have a 3000 watt inverter with 4 golf cart batteries to run the AC.

I also have a windlass. Nice convenience.
I was reviewing some old posts and saw yours, how many hours can you get out of those batteries running the ac?

Hello
I am close to Colonial and will appreciate some insights in places to anchor and have a good swim. Thanks

You will have lots of fun on the 260. I purchased mine last year and it was awesome. The wifey and I are all over the lower Potomac area and Solomon Island.

Can someone answer a stupid question. Just unwrapped my new (to me) 2005 260 DA and trying to figure things out for the first time. What's the deal with the circuit breakers on the main DC breaker panel next to the battery switch? Do they move? Maybe when they trip they're different than what I'm seeing now, but they don't seem to work like the breakers in my home where you can switch them on and off. Is it me?

Those are the main breakers which wouldn't really need to be turned on/off. If they trip you can reset them as you normally would. If you want to trip them to exercise the switch or for testing/troubleshooting you can do so. You will likely see a little slot in the breaker itself that you'd insert a small screwdriver (or something of the sort) into to flip the switch.

With regard to those why are there fuses if there are DC circuit breakers? Wouldn't that be redundant?
