260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

I have damaged the remote control for the TV Tuner and need to replace it, I have set up universal remote controls before, so I was hoping to replace this one, does anyone know the make and the model of the TV Tuner? SeaRay Sundancer 260 (275 in Aus) 2005 model.
Thanks Dave

On my '07 260 it's a KEC MOBILE APPLICATIONS RC6790B TV. Consult your parts manual - you can find the manual on sea ray site if you've lost it.

I actually was able to buy a replacement for my tv on eBay - worked great. You may have trouble getting a universal remote with KEC codes.

Question / suggestions about flooring replacement:

Winter time project: I'm looking for options to replace the carpet in cabin and on the deck. (1) I's alergic, and (2) I hate carpet.

I've seen the fake teak and it looks awesome, but was wondering how it was on bare feet? Does it get to hot to walk on.

Does anyone have any pics of a 260 done up with this or another great flooring solution?

Thanks

Anyone that have installed a battery monitor in their 260? Looking for some inspiration... Pics of install? Did you connect straight to batteries or to the battery 1/2/both/off switch?

I use it to monitor the house battery only. I can always see the voltage on my starting battery on the GPS if I have that battery selected.

Did you connect it straight to the house battery +/- pools? Or do you go via the battery selector switch?

Just to the house battery directly. It has a shunt to measure the current so it is best to have it on one battery only. There is also a 2 channel version that can measure voltage and current on one battery and voltage only on a second battery.

Ok, but I alternate which is my house battery with the switch. So day 1 is battery A, day 2 battery B, day 3 battery A again etc. So not sure how to connect the monitor in this scenario. Perhaps I simply need to buy two monitors.

DO you just want to see what the voltage on the battery is or do you want to monitor the state of charge of the battery? The unit that I use takes into account the voltage on the battery as well as the current in and out of the battery and will show state of charge of the battery. If you want to do that you would need two of them.

My "house battery" is actually 2 batteries in parallel and the starting battery is a single battery.

Sorry to change the subject but I'm a new owner of a 2005 260 DA with a really stupid question. My wife and I have never slept in a v berth before. Seems like it would make sense to have your head at the widest (stern) end, but how would you get in? Are there special sheets for these beds?

We have an 06 260DA-same boat and sleep in the V birth and you can sleep which ever way is most comfortable for you. We have tried it both ways-head to the bow and feet to the bow. We have found that we like the head to the bow better. We have a set of custom sheets that are made for the V birth. They are made to sleep feet to the bow so we do not use them. If you find you like the feet to the bow position best and are interested in the sheets, let me know and we can work out a good deal.

It feels like you're upside down when you have the head to stern. We have our heads to bow and it's worked fine.

Thanks, we'll try it and let you know!

Sorry for the newbie question, can't find answer anywhere for what seems simple. I recently purchased a 2012 Sundancer 260 and can't figure out what the Freshwater Washdown Spigot is used for? It needs a hose obviously based on the fitting but I can't tell if it's to put water in or for water to come out? If it's to fill up, how / why is it different than the cap on the bow for water? If it's for water to come out as it sounds like it would be, how do you turn it on?

Thanks!
