Saw this on eBay and thought it was an interesting rearrangement of the gauges to accomodate the GPS on top center.

I sorta like it because my GPS is down by my left knee, and I sometimes need to bend down to read a marking, move the cursor, or operate the menus. At least I finally learned how not to turn left whenever I operate the GPS...

I don't find it to be asthetically pleasing though. It really messes up the lines of the console.

I give it an "A" for functionallity and practicallity, but I give it a "C" for looks.

I understand the need to have the GPS in clear view however I think it needs to look like a "factory" install in case you ever want to sell your boat. IMHO Estebanj, that looks out of place. So does this one..... Thankfully Sea Ray is starting to get the picture lately with new helm designs allowing for better placement of electronics. The updated 290AJ helm is one of those.

This is one thing I paid quite a bit of attention to when I was scouring over the '05 260DA I was pondering.
The location and visibility of the gauges and GPS didn't seem to feel right.
I'm a gauge watchin' fool. For me and the area I boat in temp, oil pressure, and depth are watched all the time. Even in familiar waters, the GPS is peeked at for reference to previous tracks and reference to tracks, depth and their respective relations.

Esteban, it's funny you brought up this topic only because I felt like re-doing the dash to allow me to have separate gauges in addition to the Smart craft. It seemed hard or cumbersome to scroll through.

To the point, the location of the GPS front and center would be nice for more of a "heads-up-display" effect but like mentioned it should be a "designed" location with a relatively large footprint available for the growing screens and more feature rich GPS/Plotters maybe where eventually we'll see all of the gauges omnipresent readings with the GPS routes/maps and speed~~~"Smartcraft"esque

The 270AJ dash is perfect. Sea Ray ought to put it on the 260DA as well. I am in the process of trying to decide on a mounting location for my second chartplotter for additional Smartcraft functions and right now the only place that makes any sense is on the faceplate that holds the "tweeter". So I will probably move the tweeter and mount the chartplotter there. That way it's right next to the other guages. But I'd still rather have the AJ dash.:smt021
