I am upgrading my the 23" Factory Installed TV on my 2007 Sea Ray Sundancer and wanted to install a TV directly to the 12V system. Therefore, I wanted a TV that had an external power brick with DC-in. This way I could wire the TV directly to the 12V system instead of using a power inverter or generator (which are both inefficient to simply power a TV).
I found several TVs specifically designed for use with RVs that are 12V. However, these were expensive for what you get and I have heard the quality of them isn't as good. However, finding a non-purpose built TV is incredibly difficult as it isn't something that is usually included in the specs. I had to check each TV individually by physically looking at them in store, reviewing pictures, and checking the TV manuals to figure out if it had a DC In socket on the TV (Which means it had an external AC adapter/power brick). All of these TVs are available as of Oct 5, 2023 in the US.
I thought I would share my findings incase anyone else is looking for a TV with DC in.
Notes:
• This list does not include the more expensive TVs that are purpose built for RVs (12V in). For example, brands like Sylvox, Magestic, Jensen, Supersonic, or Free Signal.
• If you don't need/want a TV tuner built into the TV you can search for a "Computer Monitor" as they are much more likely to have DC-In with an external power brick. Then use a FireTV/onn/Android TV stick.
• If you have a 12V system you will need to purchase a 12V to 19V Step-Up converter to wire it via DC.
