So sitting in a hotel in Ft Meyers at 10:30 when my Siren Marine alarm goes off telling me my Dinghy is out of range. I log on my camera and see it flooding so much that my dinghy on the lift that is kept 3 feet above high tide is floating away down the canal... WTF. Call my son and send him into ground zero to go get the dinghy. After an hour he can't get anywhere close as everything was flooded and closed to get to the docks. I decided to check out and drove back getting to town at 2 am. I am driving a Jeep demo so easy for me to get through a couple of feet of water. Grabbed my son and went to the dock at 2 am.... crazy. Everything survived but what a mess.

Yes, a Jeep. Right up my alley.

ftl rain was on national news. Wild pic of the airport.

Also saw the news today, crazy! Glad everything survived and hopefully not too much of a mess.

Unbelievable amount of rain, glad you ended up OK!

My bud who moved down from New York a couple of years ago doesn't get the dry season. He's been freaking out because stuff is drying out. Just going dormant for a couple of months. I told him to embrace the dry season and quit bellyaching. Now, complaining too much rain. He needs to move back north.

Did somebody forget to pull the plug on the airport drains down there?

While back we had a bunch anchored out when a horrendous storm rolled in middle of night. Dobbins Island on Magothy for you locals. Somehow my zodiac got loose and blew away. Fortunately the next morning my buddy and me went looking for it in his zodiac. Found it washed up on some homeowners yard.

How you get the dinghy if it was floating away?
The $5 Home Depot extension cord kept it within 15 feet. LOL I got lucky. The guy next to me his twin Yamaha’s got stuck under the dock next to him and pulled it under as the water rose above the fixed dock and sunk him.

Glad everything worked out...at least where you're concerned

It happened here in 2018. I came in Monday morning after a 4 day trip, packed up and headed home. That night we had 9 inches of rain in 4 hours. Water level popped up about 6 feet. Docks and power pedestals all submerged and more than a few boats sunk.
