Didn't see an "official" thread, if there is one please point me there and I'll repost this (I never find anything with the search on the site).

We FINALLY took delivery of our 2011 Sea Ray 250SLX this weekend. We purchased it back in November, and upon purchasing it I had them wrap it and put it in storage for the winter. It's been driving me nuts all winter (as here in GA, it was a very mild winter), although I knew it would be worth the wait... and it was!

Prior to this we had a 2006 290 Sundancer, which was a GREAT boat, although I have two young kids (2 and 4) and it wasn't getting used like it was pre-kids, when my wife and I lived on it every weekend. After thinking it over we decided to go with a run-about so that we didn't feel bad about not taking it out for overnighters, could bring it with us on some vacations, and could get the kids into water sports (as they get a little older). Part of me was afraid I was going to miss the cruiser, and while I do miss some parts about it, I'm very happy with the 250SLX.

Overall, the boat handles amazing well, it's very roomy (we had 4 Adults and 2 kids on it today and it didn't feel at all cramped), and I'm loving the improved gas milage :)

There are a few things I'm looking to have done... Windless, GPS (probably Garmin 640, although looking at a Raymarine E Series as well), Flag Pole, Grill, and maybe even having the swim platform done in a Synthetic teak.

Looking to hear what other 250 owners have done, pros / cons, things I should keep an eye out for, etc...

As mentioned, I'm in GA and am currently boating on Lake Allatoona.

Thanks!
Michael

I took delivery of mine a few months back and we have really enjoyed it. The best thing I have done as we had the entire boat floors and all steps done in flexi-teak They took out the carpet and epoxied the snap holes and covered everything in flexi-teak. We had the stereo upgraded with kicker Amps and suwoofers and tower speakers also.
The cons-I traded my 2009 Regal 2520 Fasdeck fully loaded also had flexi-teak and a 320 hp motor. I am finding the build quality far below the Regal I am sad to say. The sea Ray 250 SLX has had several problems, like latches falling apart, stereo problems, and many more. The Regal was as fast as the Sea Ray with 1/2 the motor. The Sea Ray will GPS 52 mph with a 8.2 380 hp motor. The Regal would do 53 mph and way better fuel economy.

Wow, interesting to hear the regal has a better build quality, as I've always thought Sea Rays felt a step above. I even looked at a Cobalt before I bought my 250. The Cobalt has it beat it luxury fit / finish, but the Sea Ray felt like a much better value for the money.

Im debating the flexi-teak at the moment, not sure if I'll go full or just the swim platform. Overall how have you liked that?

I didn't buy it for speed but more for a great family run-about that had more luxury then the sun decks... As I'll entertain clients on it a couple times a month.

I just saw a 270 SLX with real teak swim platform and it was nice! But it was $1200 at dealership. I am thinking windless but I think it would tear the front of my slip up.

Not sure what kind of a slip you're in, but wouldn't see why a windless that was mounted correctly would tear it up... And you could always back it in :)

Ive decided on the Flexiteek, just havent found anyone in my area (metro Atlanta - lake Allatoona or Lanier) that does it... Not daring enough to try it myself!

Our slip is designed to be pulled in forward, the engine would hit the slings or cradle. We lift boat out of water. I was thinking the anchor would tear up the front bumper pad.
We really like our flexi teak, We had the dealer install it about a month after we bought the boat. They came and got boat and then returned it to us a few weeks later, There are several colors to choose but we chose the basic color. I had all walkways and steps done as well as the entire floor. Really like it over carpet!

Makes sense, not sure about the windless then...

Yeah I'm thinking the standard color will be what we go with, although I like the weathered look on some boats. Do you have any pics of yours? Would love to see how it looks!

None on computer yet, when I get off in the next 10 days I will try and get some posted.
