didn't rmemeber OMC's available in the sedan bridge. Had a friend who bought one new in 1981 & had 6 cylinder mercruisers b/c OMC's supposedly would turn too sharp. The dealer would not order that boat in w/ OMC's because of it. Those were the old OMC's w/ the boot around the drive, not the cobras. ANyway, you might try to get some blocks from Jasper or look online for some used. Good luck. The 255 Sedan Bridge is a very cool boat. 9'10" beam and very nice classic lines. Don't give up on it.
