OK, so I live and learn. I have many years of boating in USA and elsewhere around the world so assumed I know what safety gear I need, I was wrong.

One nuance in Canada I discovered by reading up this weekend is that the minimum life saving equipment must include a life ring, not any type 4 throwable - but a life ring.

Given the coasties usually want these to be within reach, I have a 320da - has anyone on a 300 to 340da figured out a good place to mount. I am thinking on the inside of the arch on the starboard side just above the champagne bucket.

Needs to be sure when underway but will be stored otherwise. Pics would, be great if you have them.

I received a personalized life ring for our 320. Been thinking about where to install. I had the same thought as you. I also am considering the bottom side of the arch at the top ( over head).

You can buy adhesive backed Velcro at most large building supply stores like HD and Lowes. I haven't used it on the boat, but we did use it to attach the life ring to the aluminum railing on our dock gangway. Two or three pieces about 2" to 3" long are more than enough.

"Within reach" is a subjective term and open to interpretation by the coastie who is inspecting your boat. Generally though, that means it's not IN a compartment, but out where it can be seen and easily grabbed. The idea of velcroing it to the side of the arch is a good one and would meet any coastie's definition.

I had one on our 340. I mounted it with a bungie to the support for the camper cover at the radar arch. It was out of the way, looked nicely presented and was very accessible if needed.
