Looking at putting Seadek faux teak matting on the rear and front swim platforms and maybe the entire deck. Seadeck has patterns for a 2006 240 Sundeck which MAY fit my 2008 240 Sundeck but not sure. Anyone out there have a 240 Sundeck with Seadek matting?

As long as you have the same floor plan layout as the '06, the only thing that may be different is the number of tables you have compared to the pattern for the particular '06 in question. Nothing else would be different.

You can contact Seadek and they can send you the full size pattern for $100.00. I would caution using the product against areas of white that surround the floor. The reflection of the sun will burn Seadek. That said, it will last on the swim platform.

there have been many discussions at CSR about the various types of coverings for swim platforms and cockpit decks....just be aware that any covering that has a color to it will get very hot in direct sunlight.....white gelcoat will stay much cooler....from what I have read it can get hot enough to be very uncomfortable to bare feet....

however a lot of people use these coverings and most seem to be happy with them....

but once the covering is glued down I would think it would take some effort to remove it if you changed your mind later...

I just received a dry-fit template from seadeck to test in my 2006. It was $20.00 plus a small shipping charge. I received a layout diagram, and several full size clear plastic printed patterns, complete with teak lines. The pattern they have on file is for the full cockpit and swim platform, from a 2003 model. Although it looks to be the same basic layout, I am not happy with the design. It just doesn't fit right, the hatch borders and latches are just off a little bit, edges are close to past the round over for locker hatches, stuff like that. In the main cockpit area at the stern, they just did 1 large piece, from the floor locker to the rear pass through, which would make removing the fuel tank access panel impossible.

Cost for the full boat (cockpit, steps, and swim platform) in teak was $2093

I'm going to redraw it for our boat.

I appreciate everyone's input and am still weighing options and have contacted Dec-Tec to see what they have to offer but their website is under construction and can't get much information right now. randmhall, so you are going to go with Seadek but redraw the templates? I'm working off of the online template they have for a 2006 240 Sundeck but am questioning some of the measurements...some are long, some are short. How did the templates work over the front and rear swim platforms? Since my snap in carpet is in good shape, I think I'll forego changing out any carpeted areas. I'm waiting on a response from Seadek but have heard very discouraging comments about their customer service but I'll find out first hand.

Something to keep in mind regarding "existing" templates. Most (maybe all?) of the time these come from people making their own template, then sending it into Seadeck (for example) to get the matting. In other words, how accurate the finished product is for your boat is 100% dependent on some other guy's measurement. You may want to make your own template to your level of accurateness, just to be sure.

I called them, because a full template wasn't on the website. They were very helpful on the phone, shipped the template they had in just a couple days, so I have had a good experience so far. After I received their dry fit layout (printed transparent plastic, all size) I called them with my concerns. They said yes, just use a colored sharpie to make any changes, and send it back. I am more interested in the cockpit instead of the swim platform, so I didn't even check the platform. I would agree with Lazy Days regarding their existing templates. That is why the $20 for a dry-fit is money well spent before I place a order.

Fouroaksphoto. We have the mocha/black faux teak SeaDek shown here and it is NOT hot on your feet at all! And that's here in lower AL. We like it so much we're adding more. Like others here mentioned get the dry fit kit first. The other templates are from other owners and may not fit yours properly. Good luck, Brian

Thanks Lazy Daze. Do you know anything about Dec-Tec?

I'm familiar with the majority of companies, but I have not heard of Dek-Tek before. I looked at their website - it's "under construction" so it doesn't seem like there's a lot of info available right now. From what I can see, it looks like the same stuff that SeaDeck uses. Without knowing more about them, I'd be hesitant. Especially with the many positive reviews that SeaDeck has gotten. Dek-Tek might have the exact same stuff (or vice-versa), or it might just look similar - that question I can't answer.

Hi! I am a dealer / installer for a similar product, MarineMat. I have found that even on the same model and year of boats there are sometimes slight variations in the dimensions. Using a "previously acquired" template will get you close, particularly on the overall dimensions, but placement of bulkheads and arbitrary latches, etc. can cause problems. Always template each individual boat for the best results. As a dealer installer I find that all the work is in the template. Installation is a breeze. Those of you that can draw an autoCad dxf drawing of your deck will be able to get the best results as a DIYer. PM me for a price quote on closed cell decking to your autoCad file.

I have a very similar boat and had it installed on mine. Very pleased with the outcome and look.

I just had Seadek installed on my 05 240. They came out and measured the boat, then returned to install. Very happy, so far no hotter than the old carpeting. Any surface is going to get hot in the summer sun in Florida:

Looks great. Try to keep it in the shade as much a possible.
