240 Sundeck - Flying A Flag

Do they make a flag pole that fits in the stern light pole hole? If not, alternatives? Looking to fly a small to medium size flag while boating

Don't know if they make on, but I know the stern light housing is plastic, underneath that pretty stainless trim ring. such on the light pole very hard and you will break that perk light socket right off.


Have you tried attaching a flag to the rear support for your Bimini? that works for us.

Or what about a stainless steel flag mount base that you could screw to the top of your transom? Here's one from Defender dot com that might work. It's about $35 and comes with the flag.

This is what I did.

I bought a Taylor Made flag and pole, it is the same size as your stern light pole, remove the plastic cap at the bottom.

I bought the shortest version of the OEM stern light that I could (to save some $$). Took off the black locking thing and put it on my flag pole.

Insert and tighten, (I run a tether made of fishing line, wasn't sure if this was going to work. I don't think it is needed, the flag pole does not move even in the nastiest winds).

Finished product.

I tried a charlevoix and took it off after one time on the water. It wiggled all around.

The defender just looks cheap and chincy.

Buy a chromed bronze or polished SS surface mount flag pole socket along with a mahogany pole. No "kits" available, but you can google each part on e-bay or Amazon.

Great idea! A side note, we used the light pole for the first time last week, had to try several times to get the light to come on, guessing contacts aren't the greatest...is there a trick to it? Also, the rubber/plastic locking thing...do you just twist it to get it as tight as you can in there?

I get it snug, make sure the o-ring is still on and in good shape. Had the same problem with our light pole, had never been used by the previous owner. Took a small file and cleaned the corrosion out of contacts and put some dielectric grease in and she was good to go.
