I'm a new 240 sundeck owner. Boat did not come with anchor.
I'm interested in a fairly light weight anchor for shallow anchoring. Any suggestions for you who have already invented this wheel?? Thanks for a reply.

This is what I use at the bow. http://www.fortressanchors.com/ Had to cut about 1/2" from either end of the stock to make it fit the anchor holder in the front locker but it works very well.

I intend to pick up an additional one for the stern this spring.

Not sure what you're anchoring in, but I've got a 13# Danforth type with like 10' of chain and 300 feet of rode as my main anchor. I carry a couple others as backups and stern anchors also. A small 8# danforth type, a 12# river type, a 12# mushroom type. Like Scott said I did have to cut off and inch or so the main anchor to get it to fit.

Thanks for your reply. The fortress seems to spec a 7 lb. for boats from 27 to 32. That will probably do everything I need it to. Thanks to both of you for the heads up on having to trim it.

I use the fortress FX-7 (4lb. Anchor) on my 270 sundeck and LOVE it. You will hear a million diffrent opinions on anchors and some will say Fortress anchors suck. It all depends on your use. I use mine in a sand bottom with little current and moderate chop (mostly other boaters wake).

I would go with a Box anchor. In my option it is the easiest to use hassel free and you do not need a chain. Check them out.

They got some pretty cool stuff from slide anchor. just a bit pricey. I might pick me up a small box anchor for if i want to double anchor. Looks like it folds real small for storage.
