Welcome, I might suggest reading the 240 Sundeck thread. I had these same questions last year. Try page 43 for starters.

After a year of owner ship I can't be more pleased with mine. 2006 240SD w/350mag B3

To answer your question I am running mid to upper 40's on most any water and 6 people aboard. 4800 rpm max, but we usually run about 3000-3500 and tube/ski all day.

My sales pitch... The 240 SunDeck is a wonderful all around day-player. Tons of storage, deep V to handle rough water for the wife, port-a-poty for the kids, ice chest storage for the drinks.

If you want a go fast, by another boat. If you want a boat that will let you play all day, (even on a windy day) carry a dozen friends and still fit on a trailer behind the truck, buy a 240. If you read the 240SD thread you will see 60 pages of people loving that boat.

Boat safe and have a nice day. Hope you join the club of happy owners.

I owned a '93 Crownline 210 for the last 13 years. Switched to the 240SD last fall. The boat kicks A$$! As stated, it will not do 50+, but does 40 all day long and with great comfort for a LOT of people and gear. Old boat, everyone forward to get on plane, the 240SD, makes no difference where people are, it gets on plane and fast.
My only complaint: I should have switched sooner.
