Welcome aboard, Ed!

There are quite a few threads on towing already on this forum. So as not to create too many duplicate threads, please try using the "search" function.

However, go to Sea Ray's website and you can look up the weight for the model year 240 you are considering. Figure in a trailer at about 1,400lbs (a little less, little more depending on trailer). Don't forget to account for the weight of gas, water, batteries, hot water heater, air conditioner, gear, etc.

After you have that weight, multiply it by 120%. Look for a vehicle that has a tow rating equal to that 120% number.

There's a lot more info on this forum - just use the search function and you'll find lot's of good reading.

I'm not sure about the arch.

Liquids weigh 8 lbs per gallon (actually it is about 8.35lbs. but I can't do that math in my head). The 240 holds 75 gallons of fuel and 20 gallons of water. So you need to add a minimum of 760 lbs. (345.5 kg) for that. Add 300 lbs (136.4 kg) for gear and you are close.

I don't trailer any distances so I am not that helpful but I bought a 10,000 lb trailer (4,545 kg) for my 240 and I haul it with a Ford F-150 fairly easily. If I was hauling more than 15 minutes or up and down a steep slope, I would recommend at least getting a F-250 with 4 wheel drive.

[The diesel model would be cool. The new one really has some hauling power. I rode in one yesterday and was really impressed. Of course they get a whopping 9 mpg.]

I hope that helps.
