I am getting ready to replace the Seawater Pump on a 5.0 MPI Mercruiser.

I ordered the pump assembly it comes with the Pump shaft, bearings, housing, and impeller.

I have a puller to remove the pulley and reinstall it on the new housing.

There are no good videos on youtube that show the removal of the seawater pump.

My seawater pump has the air pump attached to it as well.
Not much room to work down there and getting to the bolts looks like a challenge.

Can anyone share their experience?

Thanks in Advance,

Air pump?

Air pump?

Yes I am referring to number 8-9-10-11-18-19 in this diagram. I was under the impression those small lines are sending air and that some 5.0 mpi engines have this and some don't.

Should be a fairly easy job on a 240DA - remove the idler bracket and pump bolts (the "stud" should come out with the nut - if it does not, double nut it and pull it out, otherwise a tab on the bracket hits the harmonic balancer as you slide it off) with the pump loosened you should have better access to the hose clamps (not sure on the air lines as I've never done one) - if in the water, be prepared to plug the hose and/or lift it above the water line - reverse process for installation.....word of advice DO NOT pound or press the pulley on - you will damage the bearing - pull it on with an appropriate stud or bolt (the shaft is threaded for this reason) good luck

Ok thanks for the info. The Sierra 18-3160 kit I got came with a bolt and a washer that threads into the shaft.

I already have a pulley puller kit and plan to use that to remove the pulley from the old pump.

You can swap out the one with the air lines for the type without the airlines by adding a small spacer to one of the bracket bolts. Doing this you will have to manually drain the seawater housing

Ok Thanks.

Bracket Bolt is 9/16?
Bracket Stud/Nut is 9/16?

Pump bolts on the back are what size?
