240 DA Mirror in the Head.....

This may sound like a stupid question, but it just bugs me to not have an answer. I notice that the mirror in the Head has a large hinge at the top, but I cannot figure out why? I also cannot figure out if the mirror opens. If it does can anyone tell me how? I have looked for a latch, but unable to find one. Just one of those crazy things that makes you wonder...... Looking for help.....:huh::huh:

Mines like that. Hinge on top. Mine has 2 peices of heavy duty velcro on the bottom which after a couple of years needed to be replaced. Pull on the bottom hard and it should pull out. Hung that way to hide the screws I suppose. Brian

Same way on my boat. Nothing behind the mirror. Hinge on top with HD velcro behind. Strange choice of installation method, if you ask me.
