Does anyone have any suggestions for fitting a 2008 240 DA with an electric anchor? I have been doing some research and found a few ideas, but nothing for the DA.

Maybe these will help.

This is where I started: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/33668-How-to-set-up-anchor-rig-270-da?

Ended: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/37167-90s-270DA-Windlass-Retrofit-II?

Mike's install: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/32183-90s-270DA-Windlass-Retrofit?

And a similar question: http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/34280-2000-240-Sundancer-windlass-anchor-set-up?

The install is very similar for any vessel. I will keep an eye on this thread or PM specific questions. MM

Pay particular attention to the nav light on the 240 DA. It is centered and in the way of a windlass / bow roller installation. One of the threads mentioned already shows one way of dealing with it. I'm sure there are other ways. I am looking to install a windlass next season so please post your experiences if you move ahead with the install.

Thanks for any input guys. So far this is what has perked my attention http://stressfreemarine.com.au/maxi.html

Check out their videos on their hardware. I am impressed.

I have not researched on any pricing yet, but I am sure their hardware isn't cheap.

Today I just put my DA away for the long MN winter and I inspected the anchor compartment for a winch fit. I was happy to find that there seems to be ample room for installing such a device in the compartment area. My main concern seems to be with where I would place a shoot and how to get the heavy gauge wiring from the front to the back.

I am destined to find something by spring and I fully intend on keep this thread updated throughout the process.

Cheers!

Impressed by what? Have you ever seen this type of device on a modern small cruiser? In my search, (five pages deep on Google) I found no retailers in the US, only Australia. Who would you purchase it from? The best advice would be to make a windlass a top of the list option on your next boat. MM

What Jim065 did, in the thread MM posted the links to, is the best answer. For a 240da that is.

In fact, I'm looking into the install myself, with a local business to me of course.

Hi MNSundancer,
I know you have a nav light to deal with but you could move it and cover the recess?
Annie had a huge drum type winch fitted off center right up the front (hence the strange shaped anchor point for the bowsprit).
More ideas, all the best.

That's exactly what I did .....The way the hatch is on the front of the 240....I did not think it would turn out right or be strong enough
