Hey Paul! Where are you? I need some back up. These SunDeck guys are acing us. As Chuck would say the wagons are circling.

Hey if anyone has Paul's e-mail. Shoot him a message and let him know we're here.

Do I hear the sound of sundecks in the distance....you better hurry and get under the dock before you get run over by some real boats there young'en.

Hmmm, ok so good time to interject a question...what *is* the difference between a bowrider and a sundeck? The enclosed head? That was about the only difference I could see in the brochure.

We've been leaning toward the 240 Sundeck for awhile now but in the new 2007 brochure I received, I sure do like the 250 Select EX. And it has an enclosed head too?! It also has the sunpad and a more integrated swim platform, that the SD does not. Though I'm sure the "Select EX" has a substantial $$$ increase. :smt001

Well in my opinion, the Sundeck is a hybird as it combines the best features of both, the room of a deck boat with the ride of a sport boat.

Personally, I love the looks of the 250 SLX. I also like the center walk thru/convertible sunpad. However, the SD still beats the SLX in terms of utility and overall roominess-great for large crowds. The Sundeck also has better access to the head. However, the cockpit and bow area is deeper in the SLX. On the other hand, the Swimplatform of the SD may be slightly closer to the water making for better ingress/egress. I could go on and on.

Take them both out for a spin and see which one you like better.

Thanks for that great information. Planning on going to an in-water boatshow this weekend, so maybe I'll be able to check them out.

Gunn,

If your family is into water sports, have another look at the 250 SLX as it is equipped with a tow tower fully integrated with the windshield.

You gave a great description of the two boat classes and the only thing I can interject is that Bowriders have better lines in my opinion. Bowriders are the sports cars of the boating world while the sundecks are the SUVs of the water. Pictures to come. I have to read everything and then find my pictures a beutiful bowrider to post.

Now that you have some help Rich probably will be heading back to Georgia. Glad to see everyone. Is RJGarrett on board?

Have a great day

Paul

I just read the 240 sundeck thread.

I noticed the speed portion of the thread. Running about 4200 rpms the good looking bowrider ran 48.5mph as measured by GPS, not Dave's dreamometer.

Next weekend I am boing to have to open it up just to see what it will do. My motherinlaw is game for anything at 83 but I thought that was fast enough with her on board. I must be getting old as I have not run this boat wide open yet, that will be corrected next time and I will report back.

Have a great day

Paul

Paul,

Thanks for showing up! Looks like the tide has turned  . Looks like you have a fast boat. Mine will run right at 50 mph on a cool day turning over 4,900 - 4,950 rpm. I believe your hull is "faster" than mine. The extra 40 HP helps a bit too.

I believe he is signed up on the board. Check under the membership section.

Looks like you have covered the BowRider / SunDeck issue pretty good. I have to agree the lines on the BR are sporty. The sport car(BR)/suv(SD) is right on the money.

I do have to say on the last group trip some of the kids from the BR boats could not get enough of the front ladder on my SD at the raft-ups. They would jump off the front of the BR and swim over to my SD and climb up the front to get back to the BR. Did not have to swim all the way around to the back of the BR. They had a great time. Hearing the little one tell her dad to tie up to me so they could use the ladder was price-less.

Paul

Uh oh....sounds like a challenge has been issued to the Super Duty Mystery Motor 5.0 powered 240SD. :smt021

For the record Paul, I did check my top speed with my Garmin GPS in the spring. On the day I opened her up with my wife and I onboard and a full load of fuel and water she topped out at a consistent 46+ mph. :smt038 My dream-o-meter was showing about 49 mph at the time. But the dream-o-meter has also seen 52 mph with the two of us onboard so I believe the top end is closer to 49-50 with lighter fuel and water loads.

But just to make you feel better Paul, my 260DA is slow compared to the Sundeck. And believe it or not the dream-o-meter has been renamed dissapointment-o-meter :smt101 in comparison to the GPS. My speedometer on the 260DA is almost two miles an hour slower than the GPS speed recorded on my Navman.

Paul, I'm be anxiously awaiting your report! You guys are right about the differences, from what I've seen in the brochures I can agree. Hopefully I can see some live in person this weekend.

All I can say is at least the SD/SUV comparison is better than comparing the SD to a mini-van. I'm afraid I would have to immediately purchase the BR; mini-vans frighten me.

Gunn

Be careful I used to own a 175 exactly like yours. Once you see the 240 at the boat show you will be wanting it. Truck to pull the 240 is extra.

Have a great day

Paul
