Boat Info
1999 29 Sun Sport
Engines
7.4 MPI Bravo 3
Does any of these come with a head? Does anyone have pics of what the head area looks like?
Can you get fresh water cooled in any of these engine packages
Can you get bravo 3 in any of these engine packages
Does the rear sunpad fold down on these models?

Thanks

I have a '99 model 230 BR. This model remained the same from '97-'00. It was refreshed in '01. Improvements included a bolt on swimplatform, vented chines, new deck cap, and etc.

The '97-'00 models did not come with a head and none was equipped with closed cooling from the factory. Depending upon year model the B-III was available with the 5.7 and 7.4 liter engines. My boat's floorplan has the u-shaped bench with the sunpad. What do you mean by fold down rear sunpad?

Sea Ride, thanks for the information. Your boat shows pride of ownership. Have you had to much maintance on her. Any modifications you have done, or have seen?
I thought the rear seats flipped up to extend the sunpad area.
How does your boat run with the 5.7? What type of fuel range do you get?

Thank you.

Floorplan B with the engine box and jumpseats may have something similar as you described. I believe the seat cushions can be postioned along the same plane as the engine box making a sunpad. The boats with a U-shaped bench have a full sunpad.

Other than upgrading the original AM/FM Cassette, the boat is completely original. I did purchase the full enclosure during my second year of ownership. I purchased the boat new in Feb. '99.

I change my own oil. However, the local SR dealer has performed alignment checks, drive oil changes winterization, bellow changes and etc. The only issue I have had is the replacement of the drive coupler earlier this year which required removing the engine. The alignment has always checked perfectly on this boat. However, I had a growling noise when trimming the drive or turning hard right/left. The alignment tool would still slide in and with two fingers. So they called MerCruiser and they said turn the engine over and see if the tool wobbles. Sure enough it had a slight wobble. I didn't have to replace the coupler, but decided to do it anyway. This is the only real issue I have had in nearly eleven years. The boat has never left me stranded.

I have the 5.7 EFI/TBI with 260 HP and an Alpha drive. This combo will pull me up on a slalom ski and I am not a light by any means. I generally cruise anywhere between 2,800 and 3,400 RPM. Most of the time right around 3,000 RPM which gives me about 28 MPH.

The longest trips I take are intracoastal trips along the SC coast about 75 miles. The boat holds 57 Gallons and I average about 6-7 GPH which includes cruising between 2,800 and 3,200 RPM with several no wake zones. We generally run about 3.5 hours or thereabouts and if I top off at my destination, I can take on about 21 gallons.

By the way, the u-shaped bench seat does have a filler cushion that converts the bench into a sun pad. I think we have used it once or twice in eleven years. Some boats may also have the optional bow filler cushion.

I have a 99 230 Signature BR with the 7.4 BIII drive. It is by far one of the best laid out, smooth running and trouble free units I've seen. Plenty of get up and go and the BIII drive brings her out of the hole fully loaded with 8 on board without any trouble. Unless "lady luck $" came my way, I would not trade it for anything and if I did it would be a larger one.
